Hi all. I have a P42.8ghz (800FSB), 256MB RAM, and a GeForce4Ti4200 64MB. However, even when I set all the gfx settings to their lowest, the game still lags horribly underneath the building in the valley and in some other places. While not optimal for such a next-gen game, I would assume that my config SHOULD run fine with everything set on "Low"! What's going on?
Well, I would say that it is your processor, but its not. Your graphics card seems fine, i mean i can run it at almost max on my server which is a 950mhz 512DDR RAM, and a Geforce MX 440 64mb. Can you run other games O.K.? I really dont know what to tell you, does it only lag in wide open spaces? If so it could be that something is screwed up with your RAM and/or video card ram. Follow up on my post and i'll help you some more.
I'm also moving this to the Problems forum.
It only kinda lags in wide-open spaces (goes anywhere from 20-50fps (on med. detail level), but quite specifically when I go beneath the building my mouse goes haywire and the graphics become very choppy (happens in some other places, too). I'm not sure about other games, except two: America's Army basically runs at 15-20fps (also on low) and even Counter-Strike acts strange sometimes. I was going to upgrade my card soon anyways, but perhaps this is a software issue? Something in my BIOS, maybe? Bad drivers?
What graphic card driver versions are you using?
try defragging harddrive-newest drivers-disabling fog table emulation that might solve ur problem
Latest detonator drivers; Defragged a month ago.
Try and free some space on your harddrive. If you have split the harddrive up like i have and have all the important windows files in the c drive and the games in the d drive then having at least 2 gigs of room in the c drive makes my pc run better. My pc is a 2.80Ghz AMD 2600 333fbs, 512ddr 3200 ram, Nvidia Quadro4 980XGL with 128mb memory runs unreal tournament 2004 fine with antialasing and anisotropic filtering at 2x. Also try updating to directx 9.0b and downloading other drivers for your graphics and motherboard etc. :nodding:
I had probs with my 2004 being a laggy piece-o-schtuff too. There are several tweaks I found here that really helped me out. You'll have to do some reading, but it's a REALLY good place to find some help. I have it running smooth as silk now.:nodding: Check here--->>http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=258 Sys specs... You could also mention your os. I experienced a massive slowdown using the latest detonator drivers (out this week) and reverted to the previous ones (problem solved). Does this happen online only or offline? There's a setting in UT2004 to preload all player skins - disable this and you should experience a performance boost. Run the DirectX diagnostics (dxdiag.exe) - this is either in program files\directx or windows\system32 directory. I asked about your os because if it's xp home/pro you'll have difficulty with your amount of system ram... Also what kinda resolutions are you running the game in?
