G'day Everyone, Whenever I play UT2003 with my computer case opened, it works fine, the moment i close it, it crashes giving a message starting with General Protection fault bla bla..... Any idea why this happens? It works fine with the case opened but never with the case closed. Is it because the VGA card heats up too quickly. I'm using a Intel P4 system with Geforece4 4600 Ti. Any help would be appreciated? What do i need to do?

Cheers

u now what- I have the same problem but on mine of really jams up. i have 2 re-set it and get a bios error but i can fix that but thats not what u problam is... It works fine with case side off but on it "does it totaly stop responding" if so its a computer heat problam which i also have....

if so it will be quicker to take it to u local computer repair dude and get him to check out the parts and stuff because somethings not working right and over heating but the case of = dust + cools better so might as well get it fixed... If its a hardware problam u need somone who nows how the computer works - binary-code/ and where currents go so it works ZZZzzzzzzzzz

Hope this helps - if u cant solve the problam u local computer super computer dude can--He'll have a thing in computing = ZZZZZZZzzzz No offense to those dudes i just dont like the real real hardware part of computers :)

O, DONT TOUCH ANY OF THEM BOARDS whilst u pc is running by the way... might Hurt u self or static shock system = the bin coz all power of pc is lost!!!If u hav heavly been using graphics card u fan might hav stoped-but if its in garranty u can get a free 1 - other wise yes that fan should do 4 u graphics card - Just put u hand near card and if u feel no air resistance put u hand on the side of it and if the fan works u should feel it vibrating alot. Its just u hav 2 not touch circuit boards coz they have electricity running thought and it might be painfull if u do get zapped... :) Thats costin alot of money aint it-see how much gforce will send u 1 coz i now they keep getting the fans in-I thinku hav 2 phone them-and they show u the website who make the fans:)and stuff there u go

Thanks a lot for the help. I got it fixed now, it wasnt the VGA card that was causing the problem, infact it was the RAM. I'm using DDR400 RAM, my BIOS had the option to lower the RAM speed, i lowered it to DDR266 and now it is working perfectly. I played UT2003 and Warcraft3 all night with the case closed and it worked without a glitch. What about u nazurax, have u got your problem fixed?

i now how 2 fix it now--- ill say how encase others are getin the same problam if u getin a bois error after u pc crashes its u bios chip overheatin = try air flow so get a can of compresses air and clear out dust in power supply and chip boards and stuff and if still happening screw another fan in case.

well at least i pointed u towards bios:) happy gaming
