For several weeks now I have been learning how to make a map by learning various things at a time. Well now I have come to terrain and I absolutley am having a difficult time. To all mappers out there, plz post your favorite tutorials and your recommendation of the best terrain editors. :cya:

Well you can use the radiant terrain generator that comes with gtk, or you can do what I do(alot more control and freedom), and use easygen. Go to http://www.planetpointy.com/wolf/mapping/tutorials/easygen1.shtml, here you will find a tutorial along with a link to get this nice little tool. Have fun mapping:rock: .

Terrian is not all that complicated once you do it the first time.

easygen is best for making a .map what has terrain. the problem with that is that you have to do alot of terrain deleting once you want to add buildings.

gensurf is a awsome program for just putting down hills and things where you need them. the terrain manuel is included in GTKRadiant. I use both and love gensurf for making rocky backgrounds behind walls and such.

Thank you for help........I'll dl easygen and give it a whirl. I could make hills and stuff with the prog that comes with gtk but it didnt look that good, so i'll give easygen a try.....Thx again

Well keep playing with gensurf as you can make alot of cool things with it.

np.........i found it anyway...oh i know im troubling you guyz, but i would really really like to find a tutorial on how to create greyscale map on paint so i can use it in eastgen.....i tried this earlier and omg it was horrible..lol...if you have a link handy, thx. I'll keep looking till then

Should have been a complete tutorial at www.planetpointy.com

thats how I learned it. just go there and look for the tutorial. Its easy to follow.
