Help!! I can not see all the servers. It was working nice and smooth til about a week ago. Version is 1.33, win 2000, cable connection. Everytime I hit "Get new list", it waits for a while, and then shows only 7 or 8 servers. If I connect to those servers, I immediately get "Connection inetrrupted" and can not play. If I wait longer after hitting "Get new list', I see few more servers, but their ping time is in thousands. This never happened before.

Any idea??

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the response.

Yes, it's set to "Internet". As I mentioned, it was working fine. I reinstalled the software and updated everything again, but still the same. I'm thinking reinstallation of the system now. Is there anything I can try before I go that far?

I reinstalled OS(Win2000) and the software itself. Updated it to 1.33 full. I still can't see all the servers. When I hit "Get new list, I get "Waitng for a response from Master server...", then on the bottom it says "Getting info for 632 servers". But list only shows 7 or 8 servers. Also, the number 632 varies every time. Mostly around 600, sometimes over 1000. I used to get over 1000 all the time. Anyway, whatever the number is, I only see 7 or 8 servers in the list.

I want to get back to the game.

Please help!!!

Thank you for the quick response.

My answer is no. I was using Linksys router before, but I removed it just in case. Now my computer has a fresh win2000 with fresh RTCW 1.33, and it is directly connected to the cable modem, and I have no firewall going. I'm running out of options....

Hi,

Just a thought, you have eliminated software and firewalls and etc being a problem, your PC appears to be working fine - could it be an external problem, maybe with ISP or line or something like that? Can you get your downloads running at full speed - check a site in the same country as a server you try to connect - also check for packet loss - you may still be able to download fast with a high packet loss but rtcw wouldn't like it much!

Very good point Kid!! You are so right. There is a showloss command in RTCW but that wouldn't help if you can't play!! Try pinging some sites around you and check the loss.

My reply did not seem to go though, and I'm writing again.

Well, ping seems to be fine. For ex., one server which returned ping time of "4358" in RTCW, actually retuned 150 in Dos command ping. What is Master server by the way? It seems my game is having trouble communicating with Master server. When I click on "Get new list", I'm quite often stuck in "Waiting from a response from Master server" state. If I'm lucky, I get up to 7 or 8 servers.

Also, I turned a firewall back on to see if I can find something unusual. There was something made me very curious. Evert time I run RTCW, I get "Traceroute" from an IP. According to PC-cllin, it's an "attack". Am I being hacked?? I traced the IPs, and most of them were in Amsterdam and Paris.

Could be you are the victim of some sort of DOS attack, if the traceroute is pinging you constantly it would flood your conenction and not allow there response from the Master Server to get through. Do you have a friend with a cable? trying plugging your PC into that and see what happens. I must admit this sounds more and more like a external network thing.
