When your try to create a server what does dedicated and pure server mean? What should I have them set to for my server to show up so people can join. I have dedicated set to internet and pure set to no, but when I try to start it I just get the console screen. It would be really great if someone could help me.:lookaround:

Technically, if you run a "dedicated" server, it means the computer is dedicated to run as a server, and nothing else. You will see a minimized-looking console screen when you choose dedicated server.
Of course, you can then start up RTCW again, leaving the server running and join your own game. (at this point, the computer isn't REALLY dedicated to running just the server, but it still works though you may not have the performance you'd have if you were just playing on someone else's server. ) It still works though.
As far as PURE server. I believe that means it will not allow any mods into the server. (I may, as always, be incorrect) Typically I run a non-pure server, and I dedicate it to the internet.
I have had mixed results running a server. I've had people in Sweden playing on my server (I am in CALIFORNIA) and their ping was only about 130. Other times when more than a few people joined, we started getting "connection interupted".
I think the best servers are LINUX ones since you've probably seen "happy penguin", etc running with 64 players pretty well.
Slightly cooler than a n00b

Could you post all your config files that you use to setup your "dedicated" server? Or are you doing this through the game? Thanks! (I can't get anyone to see my server!)
Thank's everyone for your help I have it going now.
It is through the game im doing it the reason that it wasnt showing up is because when i was sent to the console I closed it instead of keeping it open oop's.
Thank's again guy's.
