I didn't make it!
how do you get joysticks to work with RTCW, i have a microsoft sidewinder force feedback 2 and i candt seem to get it to work with RTCW any one got ideas?
Not a clue man. I sold my joystick after FS daze and couldnt get it to work with any games.
Use the keyboard and mouse rather than the joystick. I think I tried to use a joystick one time on QUAKE III and it was very awkward.
I doubt RTCW supports the force feedback.
After a little practice, you'll be playing the keys like Liberace... Only a lot less daintily.
I would die without GF

Had a controller work in Quake3 that used the joystick port - a Microsoft thingy - http://www.game-revolution.com/games/hardware/freestyle.htm - this one in fact, and rtcw uses quake3 engine so it should let you use joystick, but let me tell ya it really sucked big time as a controller
I have a bud that plays evey game with some kind of controller, pad, stick, wheel. He refuses to use the keyboard. He play really well too. However he had to put another card in his system and not use the standard game port. I don't recall what it was, perhaps someone here knows. I'll ask him next time I see him online.
They joystick might work, but I don't think RTCW supports the force feedback drivers.
With enough practice on any control device, I am sure one could get good at it.
Heck, I have seen people who lost both arms do some really nice oil painting too, using their feet.
I like the mouse keyboard set up, and I am sure the majority of players use this too. When I first started playing, I bet it looked like I was using my feet to play!
True, you can play with a joystick and you can play without, as the thread asks. I'm sure most wolers play without, but I know there are a faction of gamers true to the stick. I'd like to hear from them.........
One of the first internet games I played was Hellbender. An early Direct Game I believe. Anyway, you flew around in space ship things and basically needed a joystick since it has aircraft controls. Not sure if you ever tried to fly a flight sim with a keyboard but its hard. haha. Anyway, I remember one guy who did solely use the keyboard and he was very good.
LOL, the reason I bout a joystick in the first place was because someone gave me MSFS. But found it too troublesome in most other games I played so I sold it.
I'm too cool to Post
