Well this is Ernst but with my updated game name. if you are using integrated graphics which it sounds like, the Intel integrated is a good one. But, that integrated chip I would guess only gives you mabye 1-8mb of video ram. check your properties when right click desktop. can you only get 24 bit color? It may help to go to intel.com and get newest controller driver. but I'm a firm believer in onboard nothing. I use 128mb ddr card and I cant say I have any problems with graphics(better for $200). Mabye you can change the options, system, graphics section of RTCW to only play in 16-bit modes with lower resolution and lower settings? hope you can get it working, cant live without this game.

Good suggestion, but I think that's not the problem. I have a similar (if not the same issue.) When I try and load a map other than Beach, the loading screen turns black, and when the level starts, most of it is missing. Random textures on random polygons flicker in and out and all the text is black and shadowed. Sound works fine, and I get amazing framerates, but the game itself is unplayable, because you are floating in space surrounded by few and random polygons.

I too am running on the Intel video card, I believe, so it may be a problem with that. However, this is on my Dad's computer. My computer, with a slower processor (they have equal ram and are the same type of PC) runs this game much more reliably, with better graphics and framerates, and without problems of this sort, or consistently freezing 30 seconds into a multiplayer game, beach or not.

Hi all,

The problem may be with the onboard video not supporting all the required directX features in the latest ver of directX, which you have to have to run rtcw.

The beachtest map was just that - a test map - and was probably designed to run on the widest possible range of video cards - and probably didn't use all of the latest directX features available in directX 8.1. I have run rtcw on a number of different video cards (all Nvidia) and had no problems - even on my old GeForce2 MX400, which are as cheap as anything these days. If you have the option to disable onboard vodeo and have an AGP slot on your motherboard at the very least get one of those. Otherwise download the latest drivers from the motheboard manufacturer - or even the reference drivers from the chipset manufacturer - they would be the latest.

Also disable any advanced features like triple buffering/lighmaps instead of vertex etc. Turn down geometry, texture quality etc. It may simply be that your video card doesn't have enough texture memory to store all textures for the game, so reducing memory use in other areas may improve things.

Well, i doubt it is a problem with the graphics, as I've turned them as low as they can possibly go to no avail.
