What are your takes on these crates? I've only just got to Cordon from the Swamps and already I've got like 2500 rounds of NATO ammo, AK74 Ammo, Tunder Ammo and MP5/pistol ammo. Is it just me or does it make it a tad easy? I can honestly see me NEVER buying ammo from traders.

OTOH, regarding artefacts, I haven't had a single one yet. I dunno what to do with the locater/detector thingy. I follow the beeps, but how do I see and get the artefact?

Thanks!

The ammo thing is good and bad, dont really know what made them do that seems abit weird that you basically wont run out of ammo.. follow the detector until the beeps are almost constant and then the artifact should pop out of the ground in front of you!!!

I dont mind the ammo that much, but i dont think they should have every single type of ammo in them at such an early stage.

what it does mean though is that can save some of that much needed cash and not buy as much ammo, thus also saving weight allowing you carry back more loot to sell etc etc By the way i feel the player's selling price should vary between 10% and 70% of the items buying value depending on condition. At the moment it seems rather stupid that a trader wont buy this fully repaired LR300 for 70% of its normal price (normally about 2.5k), instead he will only take it at 400

Well then get modding :D

See Atrocious's guide for modding trader files if you're unsure on how to do it.

I've missed a trick here, haven't I! What crates are these? Full of ammo you say? I have found, on occasion, small piles with a couple of boxes of, say scatter-shot and a medipack just left in the open somewhere, but never a box full of ammo! Where are they? (I'm using the UK retail version)

This sounds way too generous to me. I'm hoping future patches town these crates down. In fact, I'm betting on it.

Dude, they are everywhere, there is one in almost all of the locations (church, fishing hamlet etc) just check all of the boxes lying around. the one in the renegades base is next to the guide!

Also there are more variables for the traders now. I noticed it also depends on your "Faction" status. Traders such as Sid, Stalker and Clear Sky traders all give me diff. prices for the same stuff. It depends on the item too. Like Sid gives me a good price for selling grenades, but Clear SKy gives me a good price for the RPG rockets. It's things like this. Of course weapons will depend how rare they are to that trader and if it's upgraded or not can also factor in. Hopefully the guys who makes Oblivion Lost will have their MOD out for CS soon that can help in fixing alot of this. Also still having the problem with NPCs. You can grab a gun, load it with full clip of ammo and drop it at their feet and they will usually take it and use it. But you can't give them anymore ammo. Kinda dumb huh.

Does everyone fail to notice that the Zone is a war zone? I think the ammo crates give the game a more emersive feel to it, in that it is the supplies of that particular base and/or road block. I feel the ammo crates are especially necessary, even if the NPC's dont actually use it, which means stock up on expensive ammo and go sell 'em to a trader
