Hey all,

Running 177.83 atm on Vista32. I have a GTX260 (OC'd to 650/1050) and an E6750 OC'd to 3.2. At 1920x1200 with high settings, I'm only getting 12FPS :confused: I've deleted my user.ltx and redone the settings, rebooted countless times, checked the nVidia control panel/rivatuner and confirmed that FSAA is to app pref, but my FPS is still crap.

Any ideas?

*Please dont just say "vista sucks, go back to XP" :D

Take note, your hard drive still plays an important part.

Especially in STALKER, as it's almost constantly loading or saving to the HD.

Make sure you've got a good couple of gb's free and that it's defragmented to perfection.

And you shouldn't really have any need to overclock a 260 or 6750, try running at standard clocks as you might be having some power issues or something related.

That must be my problem then. STALKER plays brilliantly from XP on max settings (avg 40-50). My Vista install is on a 25GB partition that is on the same physical drive (different partition) to the My Documents drive, on which CS is installed. Both are in dire need of degfragging, but they both only have ~8% space so defragging is difficult. I'll try to free up some space and give them both a good defrag.

Vista defrags itself, you don't need to manually run it.

The defrag in Vista is terrible and doesn't do a good job. Plus who wants to defragging in the backround? Just do it manually from time to time. You only need to do it the more you add stuff. Like after installing a large game like Stalker. Plus try AusLogics Disk Defrag on Download.com. It's free and it does a hell of alot better job for defragging Vista drives. Also I use the AusLogics Registry Defrag for XP and Vista and it also does a good job and helps everything load faster. Before you defrag your HD or Registry, be sure to use a good junk file cleaner like CCleaner. Again it's free from sites like Download.com
