No, I'm not joking. Deep Silver has posted PC Zone's Review of 88% on their website. First off, the game's not even out yet, so this review MAY contain spoilers. I haven't read it yet, but yeah. Second, since it got an 88%, that just confirms what we've all hoped, thatthis game is going to be better than Chernobyl. PC Zone gave Chernobyl an 8.5, so I'm guessing that means the game's better. Anyway, enjoy. http://stalker.deepsilver.com/presse.php?lang=us

Unfortunately this review appears to be a little biased since they failed to notice many of the issues that everyone else is noticing. That combined with other reviews that magically gave it an 88% with almost the same write-up, and you can see that this is a little questionable.

Search out the forums (like this fine one here), and look for the real player reviews. You can use magazine reviews just look for some that differ in their opinions of the game and their highlights/shortcomings so you can cross reference a more realistic sense of the game.

I have seen some that give it a 68% and call it the largest disappointment of the year. At least it gives me more room to mod.

I see they've also posted the Game Master review which is... 88%.

Almost as if it's being scored by agreement.

PC Zone lost it's open and honest approach to reviewing at, strangely, the same time it got bought by Future Publishing who's entire magazine output grants scores based on who pays how much for advertising (it's such a well known bit of scandal it's even documented on their Wiki page).

Personally if I want to know if something is any good I try it. Everyone else's opinions are just that; everyone elses.

I've been told it will be available in some shops here in the UK from the 3rd. Nearly there...

So Is the game worth it?? I don't understand why clear sky was such a dissapointment. Care to explain the issues?? I didn't get it yet but I'm interested in your opinions.

I'm picking up a copy tomorrow, I promise I'll let you know what I think of it the day after.

Things I have heard is that the high end graphics on DX10 will cripple even hardcore PC's (something I call the Crysis Effect) and that the game is full of bugs (again - we can call that the STALKER effect :nodding:).

GSC said that "all it's triumphs are STALKERS triumphs" - i.e. it doesn't do anything new that you couldn't find in STALKER.

Personally I think they're missing the point; which is that people who liked STALKER will want to play it because it's MORE STALKER.

Personally I sit on the fence; I enjoyed the atmosphere of vanilla STALKER but I didn't start playing it a lot until I installed OL and the AI, blowouts, random events and all the other brilliance I was hoping for in the first game got returned. So I am hoping that Clear Sky is better than STALKER but doubt it will be as good as OL. If that makes sense.

As an update (and to prove I am a man of my word!):

I went to several shops in my lunchbreak and they all say the same thing: It might be on the shelf on Friday the 5th but they aren't making any guarantees.

It's delayed till the 15th for in store purchase. You can only get it if you live in Russia (release date 22nd of August) or on Steam (release date of the 6th) as neither were affected by the re-call. Newegg apparently did not hear about the recall and there are reports of customers without cd-keys and manuals though.
