The game seems to crash more when using full DX10 features as alot have been complaining about. You're not really missing much if you can play in Full Dynamic Lighting under DX9. Some have also reported that even when the DX10 modes working ok, they seem to have streaks in the textures where they support this new "Wet Surfaces". Just another area where GSC fails to deliver.

Ditto. There's an awful lot of people moaning about crashes, when a fair few get no problems at all. Maybe people should clean up their pc's and make sure they're up to date, because it seems the only logical solution.

I don't know if you were referring to this video...

YouTube - STALKER: Clear Sky DirectX 10 Features Trailer

...but it definately has some nice shots of the wet surfaces. There also was an article with some high resolution screenshots, which had a very nice example of a very wet guide waving at you. Unfortunately, I can't find it, sorry!

Oh it definately looks like that. I prefer the fps boost I get from taking off Dx10, as much as I love the wet surfaces. However, I have experienced the rain in Dx10 and it's a one-of-a-kind effect. It's genius how they use shadow maps to make the damp only appear on areas affected by rain. So you can see the rain splatter at the edge of doorways for example. You can see it on the top of the train carriage and under the tree on the bridge in that video.
