FourAces;4616819 As for the Gun Emplacement Gamespot did nail it
Spoiler: Show
These issues are most prevalent in two frustrating sequences that bottleneck progress in the first half of the game. In one, you emerge into a new area only to find yourself under attack from a nearby military installation. You're meant to run, but the eagle-eyed soldiers riddle you with bullets time and time again as you die and reload, wondering what the secret for escape is. In another, you must take potshots at enemies from behind a bus while dodging multiple grenades at once. Furthermore, this battle takes place a few feet from an exit point to another region; should you accidentally trigger it, your location will be reset to a few feet away, potentially on top of a grenade.
If you did not have the same problem, then you should disable your Invulnerability! Having to cheat is not fun.

Yeah...that was pretty much my issue with the gun emplacement - although I will say that it teaches you a valuable life lesson about the merit of running away vs fighting overwhelming odds (assuming you live). I didn't realize that the entrance to Cordon was such an issue. I never really had too much trouble with this area, but then again the first run-through I let the bandits mug me....so maybe that's why.....:(

I played CS all the way thru with some lag in raiding corpses and boxes for stuff. i never had a total shutdown tho. I guess i was lucky but i played SOC for a long time and had my game setup for this in advance. So i knew what settings to set the game too. The 1st time thru was total vanilla.

The MG in the Swamp/Cordon area was a pain in the arse but was just another part of the game. I bunny hopped like the Easter Bunny and hit the med pack button alot. LOL.

The Cordon/Garbage bandit problem problem i solved quickly by killing them first. I always had backup in the form of regular stalkers following me thru the portal and helping me attack the bandits there.

I hated to be robbed in Garbage by that one point in the game. Will not spoil it for others by saying where but you know where if your that far into game. I always make alot of map saves beyond quick saves or map change saves. This alleviates alot of problems with getting stuck in a bad point.

I would rank this game about 8/10, just for some of the dumb plot stuff they have going on. I see where the game can lead back into SOC tho. Ending is a 3/10 tho.

I'm using mods now and love the game and will continue to play it for months like i did SOC. Modders rule and make the game so much more fun and enjoyable for me.

Just the first time i was in the Red Forest and i heard this horrible howling from all around me. Not sure what it was but i ran screaming like your little sister for the nearest outpost of friendly's. I found later what it was but still have not heard that howling again. I've been to the Red Forest over a dozen times looking to hear that sound but i've yet too. Just my little scarie CS Story. LOL>

The scariest part of the game was when I thought I was unable to add unique items to the game's inventory. Couldn't sleep for 2 days over that one until I figured out what was going on with the unique.ltx file. But yeah..other than that....nowhere near as scary as the whole Yantar scene in SoC - THAT BASTARD IS SCARY FOR REALZ!!
