I personally think that aside the really frustrating bugs (I had to start the game over twice because of the swamp bug, and I only realised that after walking a lot to grab the Vintar rifle, the Veles detector and looting a lot of stashes) and the challenging difficulty (since when is that considered as a negative attribute?) CS is an awesome game (,well I gotta admit that SoC is still better even without the fraction wars and graphical enhancements), and even though I only started playing it recently, it's dark and cruel atmosphere sucked me in deeply in no time. There are some things I just fail to understand though. One such thing is that I simply can attach artifacts to my belt because their radiation kills me after a while. I even tried to install a gas mask on my suit to decrease incoming radiation. (Yes, I know that this might have been an illogical step.) So what am I supposed to do? Do I have to get a suit with better protection against radioactivity(I think I have the Sunrise suit right now), or should I go out and start to search for a Bubble(s?) artifact? (I believe that's the one that decreases radiation.)

The other thing I don't quiet understand is the upgrade system. Every time I move the cursor over an upgrade, little yellow lights appear over some other ones. Do they show the requirements I need to get that upgrade (much like in WOW skill tree system) or what? It's still kinda misty for me.

Any help is appreciated in advance. Thank you. A fellow, little bit lost stalker.

There are 3 kinds of artifacts that will stop the radiation you get from artifacts. The first one is the Jellyfish. You can find two of them in the Swamp: The first one is on the way to the tower where the emission catch you, and the other one is close to the Pumping station (to the West).

About that yellow lights, yes, this is a tree system. The weapons will become faster or stronger. Your armors will become more effective against bullets and mutants or to the radiation and anomalies.
