I have a serious question here, Is there any point to actually getting to the NPP?

I have no clue what im supposed to be doing there. The Gauss rifle has no effect on strelok, he is unkillable in any case because he is in the next game. There are some sort of super bullets flying around that kill me in one burst, which is of course un dodgeable. You cant even hide from the bursts because of the heat seeking grenades.

The unly way I have made it more than 2 teleporters in is by running flat out from one to the next with cheater speed on. I tried boosting the armor factor of my maxed out SEVA, it helps on normal fights, but in the npp its like im not wearing armor.

Im just surprised that the people who made such an awesome scrounge and fight game like SoC have resorted to something that feels a lot more like halo in the endgame. I mean if I wanted to speed forward trying to stay alive I would be playing some sort of unrealistic shooter without an inventory screen or money.

So if anyone can point out whre Im supposed to be going and how to get there while getting shredded by mystery bullets and holy hand grenades, please let me know. In the mean time I will be restarting the game with some intersting mods.

if you look at the top of your screen there is a red bar that goes down with each hit you land on Strelok. you have to keep hitting him.

avoid the crack shots goin on all around you. make it thru the two telaports, hit Strelok a few more times... then... THEN... you play the whole game and work your ass of for that ending.

kind of a bummer, for me at least. game is really cool... as long as you dont do any quests, they are all bugged to crap.

I beat the game about ten minutes after I posted that, Extreme Letdown.

Cant believe they put you through all that for a goofy little cutscene.

I was still waiting for the betrayal that I was sure was coming from the Clear Sky Faction, I mean they are trying to kill the guy who eventually frees the world from the Human manipulation of the zone. I figured that Lebedev was the guy in the hologram from SoC and that he would eventually admit that they were trying to kill strelok to stop him from learning the secret of the Sarcophagus.

Come to think of it, the plot doesnt really square between 1 and 2.....

I mean if strelok has been to the center twice before he became a zombie then gets healed twice from zombie dom and then sets out to kill himself and eventually discovers the real secret of the monolith......

Why are he and the doctor still so clueless in their final meeting in SoC?

I am starting to think that the plot for CS took about 4 minutes to write....

Have merc try to kill strelok, fails, strelock becomes zombie.....

Thats about it plotwise.

You are partially right about the clear sky betrayal.

The clear skies all eventually become monolith and the only surviving member (as far as I know) is nimble and apparently HE lost all of his memory and skills too and was put into the same shit as strelok.

So we actually have two "living zombies" in the STALKER story.

I dunno I haven't finished the game yet but if nimble is any indication my theory might be right.

That scientist guy in Yantar has met Strelok before, right? In CS he says that Strelok agreed to get/do some stuff for him (I can't exactly remember how it was) But how come he doesn't remember you in SoC?

That is what happens when you write up a story-line that didn't intend on having a prequal. Only George Lucas can make that work :D

Strelok doesn't become a zombie at the end of Clear Sky, zombies of course are those affected by the brain scorcher. The C-Consciousness does not know that he is Strelok so they reprogram him as an assassin to kill Strelok, like all of the others. They only know that someone named Strelok is coming again to the NPP which they can't allow, or people outside will learn of the experiments they are doing i.e. snorks, flesh, pseudogiants and the like, they are not mutants but experiments (failed or not, I am unsure) conducted by the C-Consciousness. As well as the mind control and other projects they are working on. One of the big projects they have is that cluster of large antennae near the NPP that you see beaming energy into the sky.

As for the professor I have no idea why he doesn't recognize you. The only explanation I could think of is maybe the character is blind. All that "Hello? Hello?" s**t he does in SoC. Or he is all messed up from being at least a year within close proximity of the brain scorcher.

I would have been less upset if they had started me out at the beginning of the NPP from SoC and just let me fight through a differnt route to where lebedev was......as it is you spawn about 200 yards from strelok, and it isnt exactly hard once you know what is going on to beat the game.

Especially since he glitched really bad while i was shooting him and floated in the air to the top of the ladder before trying to descend again. In fact....I dont even know if the game will have him run off if you just stay on the first bridge shooting at him, he seemed to be in a loop of hiding behind one side then the other of a stack of boxes......of course no one threw a grenade at him or he would have died instantly....lol

Strelok fell through the bridge on to the ground and just stood there while I shot him.
