I'm all about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in general. It's an amazing game not because of the graphics or the weapons, and certainly not the engine. What makes it special is the setting, the mood, and the overall theme of the game. What makes it even more interesting is the culture. For those of us American guys who are used to seeing typical western personalities in games, being immersed in Eastern European language & attitude is good for the soul. :p Now that I've modded Clear Skies sufficiently to make it playable, I'm really enjoying it. I can't wait to see how the plot unfolds & ties into the original game. But I'd like to take a second to see what you fellow S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s think about the OTHER game that is right around the corner - Fallout 3. The Fallout series, to me, is what started the whole thing. Half Life, although a classic, has never come close to the humor, depth, and complexity found in the Fallout games. The best of the three so far - Fallout 2 - is a classic that has stood the test of time against modern RPG's. Have any of you guys played Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel? I was really surprised to learn a few years ago that as old as that game was, there were multiplayer leagues still busily modding maps & playing each other - especially in Eastern European countries. What we all love best about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is also what makes the Fallout Series special - and so I'm guessing there is a great deal of overlap between the fan-base of the 2 series. I'm certainly not suggesting we all jump ship, since the two games are different in many ways & there is room on our PC's for both. But I'm curious to see how many ppl will be checking out the new shiny next month. Lastly...this isn't meant to be an advertising thread, or a "Fallout 3 is better than STALKER" thread. I'm just interested in seeing how many of you are fans of both games - and maybe throwing in a little discussion comparing the similarities of the two.

I can't really say much to be sure, I first bought haf life 3 cause a friend bragged if I like games like fear, call of duty and doom3, I would love half life 3. so I bought it, when I installed it on my PC the installment program stated I have to connect to the server to install the game. I just spent about $50.00 amercain dallors on a game I can't have! I was living in the sticks at the time and had no Inet connection. I was pissed! so I went to return it back to walmart and they said I couldn't do it, had to trade it. I saw the Stalker game and it was the only one that seemed ok, but when I read the back I rememberd the 1986 incident ( yep I was in high school when it blew..) Russa anounced the had a incicdent to the world and in school the teachers had us watch it cause of globle fall out worries. so I took the stalker game and had been hooked since then, guess cause the bases of the game was in a world I knew I could survive in and explore, I always had a thing in venturing were your not sopose to just to explorer. I had my fair share exploring abandon mills I sneeked into with a few friends..very instresting..I'll tell ya..some things I saw in the game remined me of what I saw, as for abanodnment... of corse now if I was to return after playing the game, snorks, and bloodsuckes would be in the back of my mind..at the time it was eather bums, stray dogs or unknown strangers was the thret..

No, I had fear, doom3, COD 4, MOH, they had some others but they are online based playing games, there were other games too but I wasn't intressted in them and the title and pic cought my eye, it had just been released...so I guess yeah, StALKER found me.. it might had been half life 2, all I know is I spent money on a game I had to download from the Inet to install on the PC to play, why f------- bother to selling the damn disk in the first place! I was furiouse! another wasted drive to go back considering its 30min to the closest walmart!
