No Pripyat? No bar?
From the sounds of things, I really shouldn't have bought this game.
Since when have we seen a game where the AI has limited ammo like the Player?

Operation Flashpoint and Arma. and i think all those battlefield type games as well...only you/the ai die rather quickly to outlast the ammo
Yes, those Battlefield games have limited ammo too.
I'm a fan of OpFlash and ArmA and i have to say that IT REALLY IS the hardest game ever to be played. You get hit with one or two bullets - you are dead. And the enemy - if he runs out of ammo - will lure into a trap or get you out on the open for snipers to take care of you. It may not seem at a first glance, but the game has some of the most evolutionized AI's ever created. Full Frontal Combat, No Chance Of Escape.
I picked the game up today. I'm kinda disappointed, honestly I thought it was going to be a step in the good direction, but its not. The game suffers from a variety of problems, from bugs to horrible AI. A few things that REALLY have bothered me so far in the game are: The AI is fucking atrocious, and extremely infuriating. The weapons behave so retarded unrealistic. I think that's it. These two problems combined, create a super problem. I'm only at the beginning of the game but I've had to load my game far more than I should of had to. Thank god the stalker modding community is what it is. Otherwise this game would be a waste of money.
Personally i'm quite fed up with this buyer-based betatesting, not that GSC is the only one doing it, ask from mr. Gates for example. And still, both are releasing quite manageable software, aren't they? I don't get it, is it somehow too hard or too risky to "hire" bunch of betatesters, in this case of CS, forumdemigods and modders from earlier version, ie SoC, and see what they think about the product at that particular moment? And then do a "little" fixing based on their opinion? Does it undermine someones ego or what? I'm not in the gamebusiness, so i don't know a dung about it and it's business logics, but it seems a bit weird kind of a attitude: "We'd rather sell shit first and fix it later, u know, if we like and if we have time, because people pay anyway, u know. That cannot effect on our future sales in no way, u know." If i acted like that with my works, i would be eating dung under some god forsaken bridge by now. And another thing which seems quite unfair, if i put it nicely, is the way GSC uses modders hard work in this prequel. How on earth do they get through with that? I understand that the modders work with SoC is making the CS better in ways, thank you for that, but what the heck, did GSC invent anything new to CS? Or is all just best picks of someone elses works and ideas? Goddamn. I wouldn't mind it if there was some grandé changes in CS, but no, not a much about that. This feels like big time cash-out, think abou it. Most of the evolution of CS is just a one knick there and another knack there. No way they've fixed the major issues from SoC or tried to give CS some new heavyweight content. No shit, too much work, ain't got ime time for it now. Well there is faction wars. I do thank and kneel in front of that, although i have heard a lot of complaining about that too. BUT. Anyway i am not doing mods, just using them, so who am i to criticise anything about mods and modding, when it is related to evolution of prequel. Big hand for M-people, good works there. And then the language versions and patches. Forget the betatesting-by-byers -idea now. Doing different language versions and then patching all of them separately in GSC way can in no way be economical, never. Actually, thinking it with basic business logics it is simply pure idiocy. Yes, sure, much of that work is based on copy-paste -procedure and likes, but still there is someone more or less pro, a human i think, doing the work. For free, i'm sure? And by the way, who, in the end, pays that bill, after that who has done some betatesting? Hah. Honestly, following the course of SoC, i think we'll be in deep shit with the later patches, GSC can't change that anymore. And what comes to SDK, i doubt they ever release it. And then what? They're collecting the money from us now, to get better engine and likes for nextgen Stalker, which'll be released probably late 2009 or early 2010. Not to mention to get even fancier Ferrari or some  Sorry for this un-stalkerish lousy whining. I'm just so fed up with this, particularly with these two games. Every possible point of honor to Stalker devs, because after all it is a f***ing great game. Under the not so shiny surface there is gleaming gold underneath. Though it doesn't much look like that, i really do love SoC and CS. My first run with SoC took 3 weeks, barely sleeping in-betweens and also working as little as possible, and it almost cost me few customers, who don't play games. Weirdos  Well no matter, as long as they do pay their bills, because i'll be paying for GSC. What would've made CS ideal was the proper betatesting and fixing BEFORE ever releasing the game. Also consulting a bunch of customers, veteran SoC players and modders, could've given a lot for CS.
Yea I def. have to agree with you OMON. Definately some of my fav. gameplay has been with those game titles. I liked the Resistance expansion pack too, really made use of your tactics and getting the character to lead the people more and more. Otherwise you wouldn't last long. Most people don't have the patentience to play games like those, most just want to jump in and shoot. C'mon people, that's what arcades are for!
