If you copy the r2_dof values in the 'Clear Sky Better Lighting Depth of Field and FPS' mod pack, it will reproduce the realistic visuals in CoP and allow you to crank up the graphics a bit more than what you have and yet get good fps vital to shooters.
p.s. Include the Better Ligthing and Shadows user.ltx lines in as well to improve the appearance of the game as I have realised. I am plying on Extreme presets, 1280 x 800, Enhanced Dynamic Lighting same as Clear Sky and get 20- 30fps. The volumetric light is on, depth of field is on, steep parallax is on, soft water is on, dynamic water is on, soft particles is on along with graphics and sound enhancement mods all found in Filefront has enhanced my gaming experience.
P.S.S. Credit to Dataleak and NMC for the mods being referred to.
My laptop is just a Core2Duo T5500 with 4GB RAM and GeForce 8400M MS GDDR3 128mb with skeletal Vista.
EDIT: It would seem that these settings do what SSAO does anyway and SSAO is a performance killer. I go without.
Thanks I will give that a go.
I would also add from my experience to experiment with changing between the advanced SSAO graphics options between HDAO and HBAO.
(I think they stand for Screen Space Ambient Occulsion, Horizon Based Ambient Occulsion, dunno what the HD is)
Don't assume you have the optimal setting try out both for 10 mins and see which one you prefer.
I have optimal settings for my rig/ OS as it seems by tweaking user.ltx as the Options menu doesn't give you enough choice.
I will give that a go now I have tweaked DOF to enhance fps as I played with SSAO off beforehand. I will try with HBAO on low. The SSAO is what appears to really kill fps. On Clear Sky with graphics enhancement mods I can play with Extreme presets, Enhanced FDL and all advanced graphics DX9 based on very well including SSAO, now it appears that I can do the same on CoP. I love these games shame I have not got much time to spend on them hence graphics is important to me so I have quality gaming in the 30mins- 1hr I have each eve if I'm not out to see family or working.
---QUOTATION--- We had determined shortly after the RUS release that the type of SSAO you should use is dependant upon the type of video card you're running.
IIRC - nVidia hardware performs better with HBAO (Horizon Based Ambient Occlusion). ATI hardware performs better with HDAO (High Definition Ambient Occlusion).
As well, there are some advanced SSAO flags available in the console - experimenting with these might help improve FPS without a major drop in visual quality. ---END QUOTATION---
Thank you for this. I will test it when I next have time to do so as I am busy with art work for my clients as usual.
I will try the HBAO as I have the nVidia GPU.
SSAO on or off doesn't make a visual difference as far as I can see, I'm better off without it as I lose 15fps with it on. All other settings on max sliders or medium drop down, and all fancy effects turned on without SSAO is best for me. Good enough fps to shoot as well as I do.

You are talking to yourself. And answering too .... wasssup?
These are replies from another forum for CoP where I posted the same thing. I thought it would be useful information for readers.
