Hi there, I've seen Night vision face hud's for night vision on old SOC youtube videos but i don't see any mod's out. I'll be up up front here.. I use night vision in real life like the pvs14 and pvs 15 dual tube system and i notice all games just turn the screen green which I personally don't care for. When wearing actual night vision it decreases your feild of view, typically to 40 degrees, not talking NV scopes here, just troop head gear. I've tried out the COP green night vision and it's actually quite accurate to the real deal. Was surprised on this. For example you can see hundreds more stars at night, I'm able to see details inside cast shadows and there's even some scintillation (noise) which is perfect. Now with a hud it would be more like the flashlight and force the player to look around just like in real life and may add some creepyness, immersion and feel like you're actually using a night vision system. At least for me it would.:) So what I'm getting at is there a way to hit the night vision key and a face hud will show up in conjunction? If someone can point me in the right direction to get started i'll try my best to learn how to get this done. or if it's stupid simple maybe someone here can create it? I'm not lazy but if it's not hard to do maybe that would be easier than explaining it to this noob. BTW: I have plenty of face hud textures from the "Dynamic Hud 1.2 by Slevin" and "Dynamic Hud" to try out. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.... Thank you very much!

Here's a shot I took while testing a pvs14 helmet mount system. This is a single tube system used for one eye only. (pirate patch technique) Now the black area represents the camera resolution with a lense angle somewhat close to human vision angle minus periphrial vision of course. Video games don't have perephrial vision anyway so there kinda works itself out. For the HUD texture, even something the size of the default bino hud would replicate the effect perfectly of a dual tube (two eye) night vision system. Thank's NVShot.png

Oh boy so no one has any pointers to help me along. I really desire a face hud for the night vision and been reading about modding stalker on my spare time. I unpacked my gamedata folder and got notepadd+++. At this rate it will take a year lol but i guess i'll just have to learn on my own.

you can create a new nightvision as a helmet, but it won't change the hud texture when you switch it on (i.e. your helmet already has a HUD texture, that won't change when you enable the NV). Simply create a new helmet section in the outfit.ltx (just copy an existing helmet and rename it), set all immunities to 0.0 (since a basic NV shouldn't offer any protection) Now add your new helmet to the local_helmets table of the script you're using to generate the hud view.

First off thanks for your time and help!..... Just to make sure my goal was explained correctly and so I know for sure what you'r saying. I want to run the game normally with no face hud blocking my view. When I turn on night vision I want to use a face hud (example in pics below) to simulate a night vision goggle. So to help me understand you'r saying that it can't be done in COP? Thank you! BTW: The green night vision I was referring too as being fairly accurate was an anim file from complete mod. Havent seen the vanilla version because I haven't even played the game yet!! Here's example. pretend it's night...:) No Night Vision ss_dave_04-14-11_01-24-16_zaton.jpgNight Vision ON =p ss_dave_04-14-11_01-23-54_zaton.jpg

like I said, the way to do it would be to make a nightvision only 'helmet' so you get the obstructed view whenever you put it onto your head. The on/off switch itself is hardcoded and cannot be used to change the hud unless you've got some serious dll hacking/coding skills.
