So, in an attempt to get at least a bit better at the game (or: cheat..) I'd like to know what to modify to improve weapon accuracy.
I have a tip-top condition AK74, with tier 2 accuracy based improvements and a scope. At the vast distance of 9 meters, from a low crouch, no bullets at all hit where I aim them, and one in 3 or so is as much as a meter wide! A headshot will take down most enemies, or 3-4 body shots, but at the moment I'm having to empty my (45 round) magazine before the 3-4 bullets needed go in anything like the right direction!
What would I have to change to get the base accuracy to compare to SoC? the "hit_probability_max_dist" from weapons.ltx seems to make no difference whether it is set to 0.001 or 10000, and also the "fire_dispersion_base" values from the weapon itself make little difference over wide range changes. After some google-fu I found those were what others changes, yet they seem to do nothing. Yes, I have changed the fsgame.ltx, and placed the files in the right place)

Open the actor.ltx and search for the line "disp_base". Try lowering that and see if it helps at all. The other values affect your aim based on whether you're moving, jumping, crouching, etc.
Yeah I opened up and edited all the wpn files so that fire_dispersion_base = 0.1.
The default value was 0.8, but that was unrealistic and stupidly inaccurate. 0.1 seems sooo much better.
The line in actor.ltx seems to have done the trick, thanks!
Next up is to compile a list to balance the weapon damages I think, make them closer to those in OL - it seems wrong that expensive weapons like the SGI 5k are worse than cheap AK's. (Not looking forward to this bit - small changes to many files.. I know I can do a lot by changing the base ammo type values for damage, but still..)

Well overall SG5k and AK should be better then L85 and LR300 damage wise, but not in accuracy. It seems that in CS, by default an AK is better then an LR300, what were they smoking?
Actually the SIG 550 should have identical damage to the Enfield and the ZM300... since they're all firing 5.56. Though the 550 and the AK should be far and away the most reliable.
Just cause of the same ammo type doesn't matter. It sure doesn't matter in real life. If anything it should be L85, then LR300, then SIG5k in terms of accuracy. One a slightly better then the next with the SIG5k being the most accurate. And the G36 and LR300 should be the same in terms of accuracy and damage. But again guns like the Vintorez shouldn't need any upgrades, it should be dead on accurate like in OL, cause that is how they are, but they are only good for 400 meters in real life. Over that you'd use the SVD which will have great accuracy for 1200, 1400 meters, no problem.
I think that the SIG 550 and L85 would be the most accurate, followed closely by the G36 and leaving the LR300 slightly less accurate. I'm just judging this off of barrel length, mind you. The LR300 only has a 300 millimetre barrel in real life, whereas the SIG 550 and L85 both have (roughly) 520 millimetre barrels.
The LR300 is actually designed for Close-quarters combat and other urban warfare uses.
Out of curiosity, how accurate are the real VAL and VASs? I mean, the subsonic ammo thing... I'd think the round would tumble and you'd end up with crazy scatter, but, I honestly don't know.
