Has anyone figured out the randomness of the blowouts in CS? I'm starting to wonder if when you start a new game, ALIFE simulator for CS has already randomly generated when the blowouts will occur. Is there anyway to figure this out, or why the blowouts are so random. I've played through both US and Russian versions of CS and I hardly ever got blowouts, EVER! Didn't matter which game version or how many times I've started a new game. I've started a new game in each version at least 10 times or more. Not that I played each one through, but with various testing of mods and of course going through different parts of the game and seeing how far the game would let me free-roam before crashing, etc. Blowouts also were more frequent in Russian v1.0, but after patch 1.5.04 I have only had a handful of blowouts. And I've only played the US version with patch 1.5.04 so I can't say if those versions are any different, but I doubt it. Again even in US version I hardly get a blowout at all. Yet so many I see on Steam forum and GSC forum are getting it so frequently. Anyways, this effect although unique, is so random. Some people get blowouts every level chager, that's insane. I just like to find out what generates it in CS. When I played OL for SOC, although it may be somewhat random within a 30-36 hour period. This gave enough of a time frame to where you could guess when it was coming up. In CS you don't have a clue.
Browse script and ltx files for "surge". Most of it are scripted from that what I read there. However I didn't played game yet, so I don't really know how it works.
out of the whole game I came accross only 2 blow outs, and thats start to end. I did Notice the scripting is kinda like SOC in alot of ways, maybe Look at the file were it causes the blow outs and copy the values from a blow out for SOC, should work..Thats what I did for my weight rating and it worked...
Wait, there were blowouts in SoC??? Without mods?

The one near the end when arriving at the NPP.
There are unscripted emissions in CS.
I haven't been advancing the story at all and I've gotten a total of 7 emissions.
2 in garbage, 1 in cordon, and 3 in dark valley, and 1 in red forest. ASFAIK there isn't supposed to be a blowout in garbage , or dark valley storyline wise.
And also I noticed that when I reload a save game a minute before the emission happens the emission will no longer happen. Bug or is the script that random?
I think it's random generated script. As people have also said. When saving in the beginning of a blowout, then loading back up can prolong the actual time of the blowout. Thus giving the player even more time to find cover. I just would like to find out how it works for CS so modders can possibly control it or modify how it generates for people playing their CS mod. If one was to create a total conversion mod of sorts, I'm sure one of the big changes they'd want to make is to the blowouts and such. I wasn't looking for a way to turn them off, although some way want to do this never the less. I havn't seen much of it in CS on my end at all. Very seldom have I seen blowouts in CS and I've been all through it many times on both US and Russian copies. Also with the various other patches as well. Not to mention different PCs too. I didn't like it much in OL though as it was very strong and in alot of places there isn't time or a place to take cover, depending on the map you were on. In most cases in OL I would just run to another map. But I haven't tried this in CS just yet. As I just didn't think to try that. Maybe someone could give this a try and let us know what it does. Maybe it puts an end to that particular blowout? Anyways hopefully someone can find out what files coding generates or controls the blowouts overall.
just started the game, what are blowouts?
