Hey all,
Just a link to the database unpacker tool. I figured this would be the first thread in this forum, so why not make it useful! :)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Clear Sky Database Unpacker Tool
This isn't my tool! I did not make it. Just copied and pasted the link to it ;)
Enjoy Modding!
Why do i need an unpacker tool?

If you want to mod the game.
Is this tool supposed to open up and organize the .ltx files and texture files?
What it does, extracts all the files from the db. So think of it as unzipping a ZIP file. Currently, STALKER just reads the database from this 'ZIP' file. Extracting it lets you see all the individual files and edit them, which you can't do when they're inside the DB files.
Well, the included "complete unpack" .bat file doesn't do anything. Help ? :D

Is this by the way gonna make the game run more smoothly since its not going to be unpacking stuff?
Actually no, using the gamedata will make the game run slower (because it has to sort through all the different folders to look for meshes, config files, textures, etc. In game you won't notice a difference, but it will take longer at the loading screens.
If you're going to unpack the gamedata files, rename the 'unpacked' folder to something like 'Original gamedata', and any files you want to mod can be copied into the gamedata folder that you make. Just make sure you keep the file structure the same.
That way the game will only have to search for your modded files, and anything else can be gotten from the resource files. And you'll always have backups if anything goes wrong.

Have you copied the unpacker into a folder? Not just try to run it from the .rar file? If you have then give it a few minutes. It's unpacking 6gb of stuff so it'll take a while.
When i use the .bat file it unpacks a little bit and then I get BSOD or a reboot. Any ideas why its doing that? And no its not my memory..
disk space ? u need around 6gb free space, else well its definatly a hardware error :(
