Ok, i downloaded the game from Steam, and after unpacking the game, i dont no where to put the files. am i supposed to put it in the _appdata_ folder, or am i supposed to create a gamedata folder like SoC? If anyone has the Steam Version, can someone tell me how they made it so you can download mods and get them to work

Mods will install the same as SOC ones. Create the GameData folder and edit the fsgame.ltx

The only thing is, in the fsgame.ltx there is no $gamedata$, the only data in the folder is a App_data_root, which is the folder containing saved files and logs, thats why im asking, i originally made a gamedata folder, but i didnt no what to do to the fsgame. if i added $gamedata$ ect... the game would crash saying the fsgame.ltx file was corrupt, something about a double line, and im not sure how to get beyond that.

Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe someone else with Steam can. This is what my original fsgame.ltx says... $app_data_root$=true|false|C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-STCS\ ;abbreviation = recurs|notif| root| add| ext| description $arch_dir$ = false| false| $fs_root$ $game_arch_mp$ = false| false| $fs_root$| mp\ $arch_dir_levels$ = false| false| $fs_root$| levels\ $arch_dir_resources$ = false| false| $fs_root$| resources\ $arch_dir_localization$ = false| false| $fs_root$| localization\ $arch_dir_patches$ = false| true| $fs_root$| patches\ $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ $game_ai$ = true| false| $game_data$| ai\ $game_spawn$ = true| false| $game_data$| spawns\ $game_levels$ = true| false| $game_data$| levels\ $game_meshes$ = true| true| $game_data$| meshes\| *.ogf;*.omf| Game Object files $game_anims$ = true| true| $game_data$| anims\| *.anm;*.anms| Animation files $game_dm$ = true| true| $game_data$| meshes\| *.dm| Detail Model files $game_shaders$ = true| true| $game_data$| shaders\ $game_sounds$ = true| true| $game_data$| sounds\ $game_textures$ = true| true| $game_data$| textures\ $game_config$ = true| false| $game_data$| configs\ $game_weathers$ = true| false| $game_config$| environment\weathers $game_weather_effects$ = true| false| $game_config$| environment\weather_effects $textures$ = true| true| $game_data$| textures\ $level$ = false| false| $game_levels$ $game_scripts$ = true| false| $game_data$| scripts\| *.script| Game script files $logs$ = true| false| $app_data_root$| logs\ $screenshots$ = true| false| $app_data_root$| screenshots\ $game_saves$ = true| false| $app_data_root$| savedgames\ $downloads$ = false| false| $app_data_root$ For mods to work, editing this line $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ to this... $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ is all you need. For Steam it's different, obviously. This is another reason I advised people not to get any version of the game except RETAIL. As I downloaded my SOC from Direct2Drive.com and although it installs and appears to be same as the retail. It required Digital Distribution Patches. Other patches such as WorldWide won't work. And Steam is worse since the game gets stored underneath all the steam folders somewhere. I don't see why they have to do all that BS. Plus Steam pretty much forces it's users to upgrade to next patch, which is BS.

ok, i got mods to finally work, but now im having another problem. The game crashes whenever i try to go anywhere, eventually i turned gamedata to false true to try n stop the mods from being used, to hopefully fix the problem, which it did since it let me go to condor, but now im stuck there, if i try to hitch a ride, or walk to a new zone, the game crashes, anyone have that problem and find a solution?
