Hi guys, i've installed S:CS then i started it for the first time and everything was fine. I closed it to copy my savegames in the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - STCS\savegames" folder and started the game again but this time it has CTD
here's the fatal error:
FATAL ERROR [error]Expression : fatal error [error]Function : mem_usage_impl [error]File : E:\priquel\sources\engine\xrCore\memory_usage.cpp [error]Line : 156 [error]Description : [error]Arguments : bad node in heap
Well you say you are starting the game for the first time, right. So how do you already have saved games?
i mean after the "format c:" :)
Oh I see what u mean. Just checking as I wasn't sure. Well did you install the patches? Are those old saved games from an old patch? If so they won't work after the patches. For each saved game, there are two physical files. One is a .SAV and the other is a .DDS I hope you launched the game, setup your options. Then exited to save / apply them. The folder and user.ltx won't get created until you run the game for the first time. Also are you sure u have the right folder? "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-STCS"
no, i installed the 18.104.22.168 and 22.214.171.124 patches and then played the game
however i figured out that the bug is not caused by the savegames because i re-installed the game many times
Just try starting a new game and see if it worked. It won't mess up any saved game files you currently have, except it will overwrite any old AUTOSAVE you had b4. If starting a new game loads up ok then there is something wrong with your old saved games. Also in the future, there is no need to install both patches. 1.5.04 includes all past changes as well. BTW ~ Patch 1.5.05 is out! Also, if you had MODs installed before when you saved those games originally, they may not load up correctly without those same mods being there now.
i mean: i double click on the game's icon and i got the f***ing crash bug report :(
Ok uninstall the game completely from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs Once done, defrag your hard drive. Then install the game again. Try not to run other programs or do anything to interupt the game install, or the patch installs. As a single file might not copy right if interupted and will cause crash. When you install the game, at the end, have it create the desktop shortcut. Launch from the shortcut, not from the DVD's autoplay feature. After installing the game and/or patch, don't have it launch the game after the install. Instead defrag your hard drive once more. Then reboot. Once you're back to your desktop try the Clear Sky's desktop shortcut. Please be sure to have latest drivers, or whatever versions worked for you before you re-formatted. Plus you'll want to update your DirectX before playing the game. Which you can get [COLOR=red]> HERE <[/COLOR] It works for XP & VISTA
Ok thanks, now it's working!
Glad to be of help to you... What all did you do? Just curious. Can you take us through your process? To perhaps help others who are having similar issues. Thanx.
