Besides a great broadband internet access, what else should I have? I was thinking of getting a nice headphone+microphone, and a new optical mouse. Also about the software, I need a good VoIP program. Anybody care to tell me which is the best? And must all the clan members use the same program in order to chat to each other in the game?

Teamspeak seems to be popular, but I don't really know as I haven't used VoIP programmes. But I do think that the whole clan has to use the same one.

yeah, if we do get a GF Clan going, it would be great to have a ventrilo or teamspeak server.......but, in standard DM type games, it would be worthless to talk to your enemies

Can't we set something like a channel thing so both teams can't hear each other? But hey, since gamers are sometimes great hackers, it might be useless. I strongly suggest that we should determine what kind of software and we should develope some kind of a code to communicate to each other during matches.

Well most games stop voice messages being sent to the other team. At least I think they do...

And I think the same applies to CS:S.

I have a feeling, with broadband becoming more mainstream, computers getting more powerful, the voice feature will become standard in most, if not all, multiplayer games

But in relation to S.T.A.L.K.E.R., it would work well for the MP games where you fight as a clan, or on teams...being able to communicate well can really help improve your game

Dude, talks about broadband. Speaking the truth, I'm now stuck in my college dorm with no telephone line, all I got was a wireless connection that only features dl speed of 10KB/sec. My country, Malaysia, is now going for the wireless broadband, and I asked the ISP, who already started the service last year, saying that my area have to wait for like 2 months, and one wireless tower was like RM 1 billion (USD 1$ = RM3.75)! Holy shit! And the modem itself was not cheap either, rated at RM900+, it's getting my throat cut. But I can share it with a few guys in my dorm block..... might be a good deal.
