WabiD;3801132yeah I saved the file, of course, and as I am an old Quake II player I actually remembered to turn of read-only :/ seems like it's something else. The commands I added still are in the user.ltx file when I opened it after I tried in-game to double-check... no success on the second try either :/ but I read in the Q&A about STALKER pre-release on the games developers site (or whatever the site is :P) that 3rd person view wasn't supposed to be supported in the game. maybe it's unofficial "fix-it-yourself" crap, but still. it's a tad annoying :/ well... thanks anyway. I'll try and poke around some more.

Wait, did you put it before or after the "unbindall" line in the user.ltx file?

It should work if you're patched to 1.003 without starting a new game. If you are using a mod that employs F1, F2, or F3 though, it won't work.

typing the lines into the command console also works. Why don't you try that?

thought it didn't matter where in the .ltx file you put them in, but now I've placed 'em with the other 'bind' commands. If this doesen't work I'll try typing it in in the console in-game. Thanks.

it worked when I typed it into the in-game console. seems like the .ltx file just won't stay read-only :P

Sometimes temporarily copying and pasting it to another location will cure that. Good that you at least got the 3rd person working though.;)
