Sadly, from what I've read/heard, your current computer is fairly outdated. Make sure to upgrade before you play Stalker. Trust me; you'll want to get the full experience of Stalker.
No, there isn't a demo. And discussion on alpha and beta material is strictly prohibited (though I'm sure you're quite aware of that). However, there has been talk that the Multiplayer Beta will be released soon from GSC themselves, so stay tuned!

It's not? I thought I remember GSC saying that they wanted to release a Multiplayer Beta in February of 2005. Obviously, this didn't happen.
