I forget what I'm playing the game at. It is the second highest difficulty setting. Elite, okay. Using float32 and oblivion2.0 I am lame for not playing the game on HELL.

I'm playing it on "Elite" at the moment.

I have completed OL on "Hell" setting and I have to be honest and say that I didn't enjoy a lot of it. Specifically I didn't enjoy the bits where I died over and over again!

TBH: It's not lame, it's your game and your computer and you can play it however you want.

I'm far from a natural FPS player (in fact, the only ones to ever hold any interest for more than 30 seconds are STALKER, Vampire:Bloodlines and AVP...) When I first played the game, on the lowest difficulty setting, I died about 10 times before I cleared the bandits from the farm building. Yeah - the first time anyone shot back, I died. Several times. Haha.

I have got good enough to turn it up a notch now. Any higher and I'd have to 'cheat' the effectiveness of bandages and medkits....

well, i play cs: s too and i've played quake, but stalker is totaly different there are many different issues you have to count in , like the bleeding etc, and you mostly fight alone, i am an fps player and i didn't play immediatly at hell dificulty, because i had to get used to the anomalies, the cover the creatures etc... so no it's not lame , it's just making sure you can enjoy your game ;)

At the end of the day you're playing the game for amusement. Who wants to struggle their way through a game on Hard, when they could happily get by on Easy or Moderate?

Being lame has nothing to do with it. If you aren't enjoying the game on a high difficulty setting, then turn it down.

I tried the game on hardest difficulty. Trust me on this, DON'T WASTE YOUR AMMO! Why? Because you barely get any, I had to stuck with the shitty PM for the first 2 maps cause I didn't have enough AK/viper ammo. Don't try to shoot anyone unless you have to, because enemies can apparently survive a whole clip and still live.

There is a good place where you can find a stash of about 1500 rounds of viper 5 (MP5) ammo:

Spoiler: Show
as you go to the car park where Bes and his mates are warding off bandits, just as you go in, on the right there is a tall watch tower with two wooden crates. Shoot them and watch it rain ammo ;)

I personally have played way too many FPS games, starting with the original Counterstrike way back in the day when it had just come out, 1, 2, and 3 of the Call of Duties, CS: S, etc. When I first got stalker I played at the lowest setting, when I just recently came back and downloaded OL 2.0, i also played on lowest setting for a day or two. Then I got curious. I deleted everything and started up a Hell difficulty game, and you know what? Personally, I like it more, I've only died a few times, mainly getting the documents from the military compound, and once when I tried to get the suit for Nimble, and a damn Chernobyl dog (which I had NOT seen before then) ambushed me, and as I was backing away, trying to kill the damn thing, one of those tall, muttering guys came up behind me, took me down to 1/10 health, then the next thing I know I'm looking at him picking chunks off of me and eating me.... And the grenades >.>

But it makes it all the more exciting when you make a run into the Wild Territory, or really anywhere past the Bar, because you know that if your not good enough, your dead.

So I say, give it a try. And get night vision fast >.> Nothing like running back to the newbie camp in the dark and having 5-6 cats ambush you.

And always, always, ALWAYS aim for the head/upper torso, ammo's hard to find.
