...I haven't played the game long enough to have a proper oppinion but so far as I emerge into the Cordon I find all the enemies overpoweringly-powerful marksmen gunning you down from 500 yeards away with a Viper 5 and there isn't really that much new content apart from the 'enhanced' dynamic lighting which is pretty cool I have to say still would've been much nicer if they brought some new mutants into Cordon and not posted millitary at every corner.
Well.. the faction wars is where a lot of the content is. being able to help loners take back control of cordon from military/mutants is what i've liked.
I hope it is more challenging. I'm playing Chernobyl on Master and I'm getting bored.
First of all the major selling point of S.T.A.L.K.E.R for me was mixing action with the horror of mutants and anomalies. As you start the new game there is much more gameplay devoted to basic faction interraction than opening a can of out-dated and slighly damaged whopass at the local wildlife. The novice on Clear Sky is reminiscent of Veteran on Shadow of Chernobyl. The Stalker difficulty jumps up to being quite difficult while Master is just immense. It seems that the physics are actually geared against you with NPCs being able to throw grenades perfectly twice as far as you. Starting the game again and taking my time to carefully plan my route and loot corpses like hell I'm getting the hang of it. But overall I'm still waiting to be utterly amazed. I really just expected the horrifying feeling of Shadow of Chernobyl in better graphics with more guns and mutants. Apart from the bases which are quite cool the rest is pretty samey if not a bit more bland :S I dunno I'll have to play on. But when I played the game the bad aspects really stood out when you first enetered Cordon. Good news is that the factions are much more colorful and interesting. Everyone is witty and crackes jokes while blowing your face off and the storyline while very blunt, takes no time to introduce you to anything much and just throws you to the lions of the game letting you get on with it utterly clueless making the survival aspect very obvious and complex. Its a great prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, but from what GSC reveled pre-release I painted a slightly different picture of what Clear Sky would e like in my mind. Maybe that's why I was very angry at first.
I finished this game...Oh your going to be amazed all right....No doubt there, Here is a tip, forget about throwing granades unless it is at your self, they are usless and realy kill no one....look in the clear sky section, I gave out more info in a thread that asked what ya thought about it, it has a poll. But I do like in anyways...as for that super solider that can see you through your cover and shoot through trees and rocks...yeah, get use to that too, will not be the only one time comming across that... Oh ya, get over 1000 rounds of ammo, there is a stomping monster that will never die, you may be in for 15 mins of running and jumping untile he dose,....don't shoot blood suckers untile they phase back in cause they don't cloak, so you will never hit them untill they become real again...good luck...cool game....
the most annoying part for me was that machinegun emplacement at cordon... if you were hiding behind a tree but still a few feet from the actual tree it would be ok, but if you went right up against the tree the bullets would come through and kill you... wtf? otherwise its actually a pretty good game though:)
