If I understand correctly, you can't play your savegame from the unpatched retail version in 1.0001 and above? I've gotten pretty far, and when I realized there were patches available, I also saw that savegames were incompatible with the patches. So, if you want to play the patched version, you need to start your game all over? Am I getting that straight? If so, is or will there be some way to convert your saves to the new format?
I might have it completely backwards, but it just seemed absurd that I'd have to start over to play the game the way it was meant to be played originally.
As far as I understand, your old save games are gonners if you load the patch. Now, if you started a fresh game after you installed the first patch, 1.0001 I believe, you can install this new patch over it and your save games are good. I too am far into the game before the first patch came out soooooooo I'm going to finish the game and then patch and restart it.
and yes it is absurd!
Ok, I was afraid of that. I thought I read somewhere that along with the new patch (1.0003) there would be a savegame converter that the developer would release to migrate saves from the old format to the new one. Did I dream that up, or did someone say that?
I thought I heard that too, but I would'nt hold your breath! Not likely to happen otherwise you would really be hearing about it.
it seems to be a bit random, i lost my saves and so did nameless but a lot of others didn't, the only way to find out is to copy your save games to a different folder and patch, if it doesn't work just re-install and put your old save games back. mine seems to be an issue with a mod by the way.
Saved games from the unpatched version will be lost if you patch your game (until the devs come out with their promised "saved game converter").
Saved games from 1.0001 are compatible with 1.0003.
PS. Anyone ever wonder what happened to 1.0002?
