(this is a copy of my post on stalkerfiles.com, however i feel it is appropiate to make this comment heared better) ,for those of you who don't know, half life 2's storyline was cut by about 40% in from the original design, for example, colnel (or however you spell it) cubbage was supposed to have had a main part and you were supposed to have been dighting in far more street resistance battles. but his whole part was cut and he ended up just giving you a weapon. looking back at it now, i wish the developers could have been given another dozen months or so, if that's what it took to complete the game. that would have shown the full potential of a well thought out and developed storyline.

for our own sakes, i hope that we are not pressuring THQ and GSC Gameworld too much and will not force them to cut back on as much that halfe life 2 could have been.

i say, take another 2 or three years of you need to, we want to see a great game that we will remember, not another hyped game. strictly speaking, halflife 2, driver 3, and so on... did not live up to my expectations for the exact same reason that they were forced to put out an unfinished game by impatient gamers. i prefer quality, not quantity.

thank you

Well I don't think we're pressuring GSC too much personally, I think it should be done at some point next year which is plenty of time. I very much doubt they would need another 2 or 3 years, and even if they did they wouldn't use it. By that time Stalker would look dated and a lot less people would care about it.

another 2 or 3 years would hurt it more than help it

I think they have had plenty of time to get all the things they need, and now its just a matter of months

well yea, i guess 2 or three years is a bit much but i would hate to see stalkers storyline and gameplay be anywhere less than it's full potential. i would tell thq and gsc to take the time thay need to finish the game to a good standard. having waited for a game to come out unfinished or imperfect in the past, i have had dissapointments before. i am a perfectionist myself so i guess i over-appreciate the need for time to develope a game. i read somwhere an interview with a developer once and developing a game for fans really puts pressure n their personal life too, and having no guarantee if their game will be a sucsess if it gets released early would be a nightmare for any developer that works hard to make a good game.

The game developers have to make these games by certain times, and it's not always because of fans wanting to play, but because the company wants to make money as soon as possible. I do agree, however, that some extra time would great improve the game, as well as other games. I just don't think it would take an extra 3 years, though.

THQ gave GSC lots of extra time to work on the game, but they dont want to give them any more, its going on 4 years of development

Which is a heck of a long time to say there's been no real problems during development. Revisions aside that is. I'm looking forward to seeing it on shelves early next year.

thanks for making this post and i hope you join us in thie community. as you can see, last post 5 hours ago...we need some more people here. TELL EVERYONE AOBUT US!! good to have you if you decide to stay. back to what matters now... ____________ i feel the same, but enough is enough is how i see it. dx9 jsut HAD to come out. if it diddnt we would all be playing stalker now... it was supposed to be released in 2003. frames per second in the original builds from what iv played and seen at early E3's were really good. most of it was dynamic lighting too. i really do wish its released soon, but i also hope the same you do, when its released, its "done". i applaud and agree with everything.
