Lately I'm having fun challenging myself to new ways of battling the mutants, particularly Snorks and Dogs (funny how they both walk on all fours too). I get in moods where yeah, done this before, so I'm not inclined to want to waste ammo or take time to set up in a snipe position. I've been enjoying circling the swamp at Yantar letting Snorks spot me one at a time. When they jump at me I sdiestep and chase them down with the knife. It's almost like chasing a pig swatting at their backside hoping they don't realize where you are. I've managed to twice clear the swamp with this method not taking any damage. It was actually easier than using the modded combat SPA and Darts. With the dogs I like to head to areas with lots of anomalies and take them for a "walk." I run around the anomalies with two Flash in my belt watching the poor pooches pass away into puffs of blood. Last time I did it I managed to get a Psuedo Dog after the regular dogs were laid to rest, which was quite satisfying. I can sympathize with the normal dogs a bit, they're blind and whimper when you shoot them. This way they die by "natural causes" and I don't hear their cries. The Psuedos however are relentless, any time you can get them to croak without any difficulty is as Martha says, "A good thing."

On another note seems every time I head back to Bar from Wild Territory lately one of the Bandits hanging out behind the sniper tower falls victim to an electrical anomlay just after he's alerted to my presence. I hear him shouting as if to summons his fellow bandits, then there's a flash of lightning and crack of thunderous sound followed by AHHHH! LOL

It's funny when you get a "Eliminate Bandit Camp" quest. Fight the first few Mercs then shoot a Bandit and bingo, instant quest reward!

I don't have an awesome or memorable Mutant fighting experiences. Usually I have at least one story to tell about a funny/amazing thing happening, but none yet.

I have discovered the ultimate way to kill pseudodogs and Bloodsuckers.

For pseudodogs, they always charge you headfirst... low crouch + two or three rounds to the face = instakill.

For Bloodsuckers, you gotta lure 'em, and as they charge you like utter idiots, unload hot lead into their faces.

Nothin' else that was special. Oh wait. THere was this one time where I ran into a COntroller at the Yantar exit (into WIld Territory). I rushed it and was knifing, when I crossed the border to change levels and accidentally hit yes. I can back through again, and found the ugly son looking the other way.

I put my RPG to good use. :D

This time playing through I'm taking on many more quests and experiencing the brain zap thing the Controllers do with that eerie noise and the woozy effect is has, really weird. Correct me if I'm wrong but is the reason they no longer attack with the vision pull thing due to having turned off the machine in Lab X16? lately when I find them they're just walking toward me while I'm hearing the mental white noise playing and the brain damge indicator comes on, but never past green. I knifed one in the tunnel after meeting with Doc, then another I shot dead with the Tr301 in Bloodsucker Village on a quest for Duty. That eerie sound is enough to make you loopy. I found a fun place to venture beyond the boundary of the map past the Bloodsucker Village where the Mercs hang out. You can climb the big rocks near there, circle around behind them on the hill and when you shoot them they can't see you. They keep firing the other direction as if you're approaching from the front. I also killed a Poltergeist for the first time doing the task for Duty to kill the Merc snipers in Wild Territory. If you do it at night like the Duty commander recommends it really looks awesome. Lots of lightning, electrical anomalies and the Poltergeist wandering around. I didn't even realize they had bodies until I killed one. Pretty cool looking monster but I couldn't get a good screenshot because he was lying face down.

I thought the poltergeist was the shits flying around when u get the documents in lab x 18 i think. Then you get locked into a room, and fire balls start flying around,a s well as some eletrical ones. i presumed those were the poltergeists. As well as the invisible things throwing boxes and crap at you. I am a bit confused now, have i met a poltergeist or no? Is he visible?

Blasting mutants in the face right before they connect with an attack is always worthwhile.

Hitting a pseudodog in the head while it was jumping point blank with a gauss rifle, cracked me up something chronic.

I'm almost positive the Poltergeists are the ones that when invisible look like hovering balls of lightning. When I killed the one in Wild Territory the levitating and throwing of barrels stopped and what remained was a mutant lying face down with only an upper half of body, the lower half being like stunted legs or short tentacles. He makes an eerie sound when he dies too. Poltergieists are defined as noisy ghosts and quite ofter tales of them are associated with objects dropping or even flying across a room. If you want to see one in all it's glory hanging out with what may have spawned such a creature, being electrical anomalies, do the task for the Duty commander in Wild Territory where you take out the merc snipers. He suggests doing it at night, and so do I. The effects are spectacular what with the thunder, lightning, electrical anomalies, and of course the P man hovering about. Sometimes he tosses the red explodable barrels, so beware. I was musing over how I'd just aquired the silencer for my Tr301 and took it and one of my Vintar BCs to make sure I'd have a stealth advantage. Then there was this crazy ghost tossing exploding barrels at me and killing dogs with other objects he threw creating lots of noise everywhere I went. LOL

Not really. They don't do the Vision Zap Attack thingie if you are within 10 meters of them. I tested it, 10 meters on the spot.

The fire thing that attacked you isn't really named, but I've heard someone call it a "Sorcerer", and that they aren't an enemy, but rather a killable anomaly. Iunno. They just form jet streams of fire at you if you don't move around enough. The poltergeists are definitely the Blue/Purple static cloud flying around. They float and throw stuff at you. If you manage to kill one, look at the image of his face when you check his corpse. Compare it to the Encyclopedia entry about them.
