They only need one pack of ammo (or maybe not even that). You can add ammo and weapons by editing character_desc...xml files in gamedata\config\gameplay

When you work on OL files, you also have to do the same changes in character_desc_general.xml. Otherwise it may cause bugs later in the game.

And: If you edit their equipment, you have to start a new game, to see the changes.

I understand that in character_desc_general.xml are the same characters from character_desc_(escape, garbage, bar, military...).xml but zombified, but why in character_desc_general.xml characters from "Freedom" faction are doubled with altered weapons?

I use OL 2.0 with patch for 1.0004, plus FN P90 & PKM and finally I manually added TT-33 & PPSh-41 as well as HK UMP45 :stallard:. I did some minor tweaking, mainly weapons' and armors' characteristics, like changing modified 5,45x39mm Groza OC-14 back to the original 7,62x39mm etc. So far, everything works well... I haven't reached the Military Warehouses yet, hence, I didn't met "Freedom" fighters yet, so I don't know why only their characters are doubled in character_desc_general.xml? Now my goal is to make all these weapons available to NPC's, so I start messing around with character_desc_.....xml files and I found this "issue" with "Freedom" faction. In the future I would like to make ammo for these new weapons available in the boxes, stashes and crates, but I guess this is a different topic...

If you used my P90 add-on for OL, or even gosukes mod, then you see some death_....ltx in \gamedata\config\misc Those are used to make NPCs drop the ammo.

Yes, that's different. Putting stuff in those, requires to edit all.spawn - at least as far as I know.

Yes Atrocious, I use your add-on (btw, great job:beer:), and yes, occasionally some dead NPC will drop a box of 5,7x28mm ammo. I found the lines in character_desc_....xml files and now I'm gonna do the same for 7,62x25mm (TT & Mauser) ammunition.

Thanks! The character_desc_...xml do not make the NPCs drop ammo. So giving NPCs ammo with those files, will not make them drop it. But giving new guns to the NPCs with character_desc_...xml will make them drop the guns. So there are different files used for guns and ammo, like written above.

My mistake, responsible files for finding ammo on dead NPCs are: death_generic.ltx death_items_by_communities.ltx death_items_by_levels.ltx death_items_count.ltx Although, I don't quite understand the values in death_items_count.ltx  and how come You (Atrocious) didn't put P90, PKM and their ammo in death_generic.ltx? This file seems to consist some weird non-existing weapon names like wpn_walther_coll, wpn_beretta_m1, wpn_deserteagle_coll, wpn_g36_m1, wpn_svu_m1, wpn_aksu_anom...?

- I didn't edit death_generic.xml, because gosuke also hadn't done that and still the NPCs drop ammo. - In death_items_by_communities.ltx you set which groups drop which items. Add the ammo to [stalker] and every NPC possibly drops the ammo, because they are based on [stalker]. Also the number sets the possibility that the item is dropped. The lower the number, the less is the chance. I've lowered the number for P90/PKM ammo, because they always drop a complete box of the ammo, which is much more than the usual ammo drops. - In death_items_by_levels.ltx you set which items can be found in which levels. Basically 0 and 1 can be set to disable/enable. Although there are some "2"s in the file, I wouldn't use anything apart from 0 and 1. Again all following sections are based on the first section. So editing that should be enough, if you want to drop the ammo everywhere. - I actually don't remember how death_items_count.ltx works. I think I left it like gosuke had set it. Maybe here you can set how much of an ammo box should be left to the player. (In percent or something) Just a guess.
