First things first: I'm new here, and new to stalker.

Now that that's out of the way, I'm having trouble getting the mods to work. I know you're probably rolling your eyes and getting ready to tell me to change that line in fsgame.ltx to true| true, but the thing is... I have.

My main problem is that I'm trying to get Faiakes Mod v2.1.1 to work. As I understand it, it's a huge blob of other people's mods rolled into one. Well, I extract the gamedata folder, move it into my stalker directory, and that should be that, no? I fire up stalker, but nothing is different. Same skins, same everything. Well, maybe I'm not familiar enough with stalker in the first place to notice any differences right off the bat. Maybe I need to explore a bit. I do, and still notice nothing. I figure a definitive way to test and see if the mods are working would be to try the Dream Mod, since it can be done from any NPC that wants to show you something interesting. I give it a go, clicking the "something interesting" option twice, and, sure enough, there is no option to take a little nap. I go to the trader and see what he's selling. Just the normal stuff, definitely not what he should be selling were the trader mod working. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried again. Same results, just normal ol' stalker as far as I can tell.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this: Please bash me over the head with the blatantly obvious mistake / oversight I'm guilty of.

Also: I'm running v1.0.0.3 of the game.

Edit: This was posted late at 3:30AM my time, so I'm not expecting any responses right away. Therefore, it's time to sleep. Please don't take my lack of response as ignoring your help.

ok, i think i know this. go into your shared folder in your computer folder, find stalker, find the user.ltx file and change the second line from true/false to true /true, you should hopefully be able to get my drift when you open the folder. might wanna wait till someone else confirms this though as i'm at work and a bit hurried. ;)

IGNORE THE ABOVE POST PLEASE, I WAS WAY OFF ;) ORIGINALLY POSTED BY FAIAKES: If you can't get this (or any other mod) to work, you just need to modify the file fsgame.ltx, which is in the same folder where you placed the gamedata folder of this mod. Simply, right-click on fsgame.ltx, choose 'open with', click the bottom option 'Choose Program...', select Notepad from the list, check the option below to always open that type of file with Notepad and then click 'OK'. Open the file and the second line will look like this (a bit more spread apart but ignore that): $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ Replace the first 'false' with a 'true' and the whole thing should look like: $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\ Save, close and you'll find that all your mods work fine now.

Just a simple suggestion, as I have seen it happen before in other games: Double check to see if the changes you did in fsgame.ltx actually saved properly. Sometimes the file might be a "read only" file and you must change that property manually. I always run a "read only" remover on all my game files before I even start the game (Old modders habit...:)), so I am not sure if Stalker has that property preset on it's files. Also, be sure to double check that you only have one "gamedata" in the main Stalker folder and not one inside of another, this confuses the game..:) Keep us posted as to what you find and we will see if something else needs done....Hope this helps.

As per dannyboy01's posts, I stated in the first post that I've already modified fsgame.ltx.

KoGar, I will try your ideas asap.

I've just removed the faiake's mod and installed the Horror Mod. The Horror Mod seems to be functioning perfectly, so I'm thinking that it's possibly a problem with Faiake's Mod, maybe some mods are conflicting.

Ah, that is the one with the .exe to install, correct? If so, where did you originally extract the file to? It looks like the file extracts to the same folder the .7zip is in. I have a seperate DL folder for all my Stalker Mods and the file unzipped into that folder. Double check the contents of that folder and see if a "gamedata" folder is already inside. If so, just take that folder and move it to your main Stalker directory and see if that corrects the problem. Make sure you do not have a folder in the Stalker directory labeled "Stalker_Faiakes_v211".

Right, I had the gamedata that was inside Stalker_Faiakes_v211 in my stalker directory, so it should have worked.

Not sure why it didn't; still fiddling with it. :\

Ok, did some testing and the 2.11 mod runs fine for me, so I am not sure what is going on. Troublshooting mods is easy once you get the hang of it, so we start from scratch...:) First, clear out the "gamedata" folder in your Stalker system file. Next, make sure the fsgame.ltx is not read only, then add the line: $game_data$ = true| false| $fs_root$| gamedata\ (It should not matter if the second word is true of false, just as long as the first word after the = is true.) Next, unzip the new 2.11 mod to an easy accesable folder outside of Stalker (ie: desktop), remove the gamedata folder and place it into the Stalker main directory. Last, start a new game. This is a step I forgot to ask if you had done. A lot of extra info is stored in the .sav file and unless you start a new game the changes may not take effect properly. Try these steps and see what happens. I know this may seem like simple solutions, but believe me, when troubleshooting Mod problems the simplest things are what can trip you up. Keep us updated...:)
