Does anyone know how to change the ground colors that are "painted" on the level? I'm not talking about the grass texture I am talking about the colors that are displayed over the texture. They are normally green and brown but I want to make them more gray and muted. any ideas?

I'm not sure if I understand your question right. That's confusing me "I am talking about the colors that are displayed over the texture." Also I never edited those textures. Anyway: If you extract the \gamedata\levels subfolders from the gamedata archives, you will find folders for the different levels and in those you have build_details.dds for the different grass etc. Also you have a terrain folder. In there you have some terrain_....dds . I think that's what you are looking for.

I know about the textures located in the "levels" folders. Here is a screenshot of what I am referring to.

I am still using my nuclear spring mod so it could be that I changed some file and never noticed before now because the ground texture has always been green.. but after I changed the ground texture to a dull gray the green and red colors became very obvious.

Sorry, no idea what that is. Did you extract all gamedata\textures ? because there are a lot of folders despite "detail". Otherwise maybe you find someone on GSC forums, who knows about that. GSC Game World - Community

you can edit the colors of the terrain by opening the terrain from each level\terrain folder... however its not possible to retexture them. the only thing you can do, is manipulate-change the textures in the textures folder (grnd) and you might see the changes.

but if you want to make gray stuff, i suggest to use photoshop with nvidia dds plugins.
