I'm hoping someone can help me adjust the spawn rate in STALKER. For example, I would like to decrease the rate at which the bandits reappear in the Garbage level. I've tried playing with the "local idle_spawn_preset" numbers in the se_respawn.script without real success. I've also tried adjusting different parameters in the all.spawn file (all that did was create crashes when trying to load a saved game). Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I've changed the numbers in the se_respawn.script (by default they are all 300) like some other posts have suggested but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I don't have to start a new game for those changes to take effect do I?

Well, I may have figured this out on my own. I read on another forum that where you happen to be standing when you save seems to affect spawns (too close to a spawn point?). I used an earlier save (where I was not standing near the spawn point) and modified those 3 local idle_spawn_preset numbers and i was able to stand in the middle of the Garbage car park for several hours of game time without a bandit spawn. When I used the default se_respawn.script file they would respawn within 10 minutes or so of game time. Hopefully that's the trick. Maybe this will help someone else.

what exactly did you adjust? Cause mega bandits and 5000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 dogs per level is REALLY starting to piss me off. To keep Fox alive I literally have to go back four times a day in game time to keep 6-12 dogs off of him.

Hi..

Why do you want Fox to be alive ?.. You talked to him, right ?.. Ok now : hes job's done.. Like the Master of the Keys in Matrix : once the job/task is done, he's useless..

If you want to protect him.. well.. think of Bes, Serye, Bullet and so much more guys who are useful _to you_ only once..

Have fun protecting, Stalker.. :) -- TWD

Dude I realize that Fox, Wolf, Guide, Fanatic, Veronin, Lukash, Yurik, Petruhah, Kruglov(oh wait, he's useful twice) the Duty trio, Cap and everyone else serve only to move you along after specific instancing and mission. I'd just rather keep them around. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't a normal generic FPS and I choose not to play it as one. Secondly, and more importantly, I f!cking DESPISE the 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 instant autospawning every five second Blind dogs, that only keep increasing with every GSC patch. I'm fairly certain by the time we get to 1.1 and the SDk every NPC and character and even weapon in the game will be replaced with a *&^(%(&%^%^(^&(*&^%%#$@(*@ blind dog. Enough is Enough.

I too always tried to keep fox, and some of the others alive. I used to run to fox as fast as I could so I could beat the dogs to him. lol Most of the time I was too late.

Try giving Fox a modified weapon. It works most of the time. I've kept him alive that way until I didn't need to return to cordon and finished the game.

If you need some help with that, just shoot me a private.

You could cause some stalkers to spawn where fox is but they would just wonder off anyway. I know, i've tried that too. That is unless you're a wiz at scripting. There are some guys who can do this but unfortunately I'm not one of them. If I was, everyone who wanted to know how would know how. :D

Good luck.

open se_repawn.script edit: idle_spawn_preset local idle_spawn_preset = { seldom = 455, medium = 410, often = 355 } this should work, its the setting i used for abc 1.0 in abc 1.0 fox only died because i added more mutants, in my mod he could handle easy bandits and dogs alone. i gave him a unique weapon and tweaked his suit, if you want he alive, just give him a perfect suit with 0 damage.

Unfortunately the spawning continued. I have no clue how to decrease/turn it off. Why did you choose those numbers to adjust in the ABC mod? I thought the larger the number the longer the time between spawns (although that obviously did not work). For example, I tried entering 300000000 instead of the default 300 but that didn't seem to help.

Thanx for the help guys, and yeah Brusher, if you didn't mind, hit me with a PM, I'd like to give him a groza and a better suit rating.
