How to make or reactivate quests? -1 reply

Hey there! I found this in a the Oblivion-Lost Forum:

"here are the three files you have to edit; config/misc/task_manager - Create quest here (select type, time, parent, reward etc.), also remember to put the name at the top aswell. config/text/eng/stable_task_manager - Add quest description, start text and name config/gameplay/storyline_info_taskmanager - Bind the text and conditions here. And thats it, and i finaly got wolf to give a 'find the artifact' quest."

In the original files of STALKER there is f.e. a quest from the Trader were you have to bring him the unique weapon Fort 15. I checked the data mentioned above, but there is everything already in there! Why does this quest not appear ingame??? And what can I do for reactivating it?? Sorry for my english!

I just looked at the files and I think I might know the problem.

Where it says: ;---------Find Item----------- ;tm_find_item_1

The tm_find_item_1 has a ; in front of this, that stops the game from using that part of the code. If perhaps you changed it to: ;---------Find Item----------- tm_find_item_1

It might work, I'm not sure, I haven't tested it yet.

Hey Luke, Everything is there, but you need to activate it. At the beginning of task_manager.ltx is a list of quests.... look for this : ;tm_find_item_1 See this mission is commented (;) out of the list, so the game does not load the other entries at all. Just remove the comment!! You will see others have been disabled as well for other traders. Edit: Shiz Chickenfeed you beat me to it!!

You were spot on mate, that works, I had done it in my game a while ago for that mission. So it was a good guess!! We must have been typing the at the same time on the initial reply.

Ah, I think I must have done something wrong. I tested it just now but Sid doesn't seem to be giving me the task...

No never mind, I just noticed I have to have done the agoroprom case thing. If I wanted to be able to do it from the start, would I just delete the 'condition' line?

Chickenfeed, Exactly, some missions require other events to have been completed. Just delete the line. Also, if you look at the init_condition line in some tasks, and delete it, they don't get assigned automatically. So delete the init_condition for defending the stalker camp against the bandits in garbage, and you don't keep getting that mission every time you are on the level.

You can get this quest normally, or at least i have seen it offered, it is called find the perfected pistol. The problem is that you have to complete agropom without killing the military blockade at the bridge. The pistol that sid wants is the fort 15 the sergant is carrying. If you have already killed the sarge you wont get the quest.
