What unit of distance does one in game unit represent in terms of scale?

Is a single unit one tenth of a meter, one meter, one foot, or arbitrary?

I'm trying to find out because if it is meters then some weapons are seriously under performing for distance while others are over performing such as the mp5 which is set to 500 and the vss vintoress at 900.

The effective range of a 9x19 is about 100m and a 9x39 is about 400m.

I'd assume it was in meters. GSC Gameworld is a European company, and the distance measure shown next to the crosshair is in meters.

Actually the numbers i think might be pretty arbitrary. For instance the zoom factor of 90 allows you to block half the screen with your arms/gun. While a zoom factor of 20 puts the ToZ shot into your eyeball.

zoom factor is very different to the distance measurements. Zoom factor is done in two ways, field of view and a multiplier.

I have only played with the fov zoom.

This is for distance though...
