Found this in the text and script files. Anyone ever had an instance when this came up? And what is collector? I've played the game thru many times and never saw anything like this. Much less any money exchanges with this stalker, the ratcatcher, and Mole.

Have I just not found the right circumstances where this would come up or is this something else they left out of the game?

The ratcatcher, apparantly, is the guy in the trailer in the swamp behind the agroprom institute, and I'm assumming that Krot is another name for Mole.

Here is the dialog:

"Do you know about Ratcatcher? The info will cost you 30."

"Deal."

"We have a local hero around here called Ratcatcher. He lives in the marshes. The man bred so many rats in the collectors that they'll soon eat those army bastards."

"Great. Thanks."

"Tell me more about the collectors."

"Collectors are your standard (censured)-stinking sewers that take waste from the Institute and dumps it in the nearest water reservoir.

Great. See you and take care of yourself."

"I know that already. Thanks."

"I don't have enough cash."

"I see. Bye!"

(Dialog with the ratcatcher)

"Hello."

"What's up?" "Tell me about the collector. How do I get inside? Where are the exits and entrances?" "It's dangerous inside the collector. There are six entrances and two of them are in the area around the Institute where the military have set up a base. That area is patrolled and the captain keeps the patrol schedule in his armory."

"How do you know all that? The rats told me." "I see. Bye! Good luck to you." "Nothing. See you." "Who are you?" "I live here, if you can call this a life. I breed rats in the collector to annoy the military at the Institute."

"I am Ratcatcher." "What are you doing in this marsh?" "Oh... I get it.... well, I'm from another story. Ha-ha-ha..."

(And this. These funtions call for money exchanges with the ratcatcher, and with Mole.)

well the catacombs -collerctor as they say- had 6 entrances? :D but in the final it has only 4 (with the tower in the hill)... or i could say 3 but one is blocked, so only 2 :D

entrances: -one near the old factory (mole shows it to you) -one in the hill, but blocked - 2 in the military base, but one is blocked :F

and i found this, its a duty member talking about getting through the bridge at Cordon, and he mentiones zombies when he talks about that anomaly tunnel. They forgot to take the dialogue out or something. sspavelsokov08110719093nj2.jpg Shot at 2007-08-15

Yeah, it's just cut content they didn't entirely remove, just disabled/not used in game.

Just like hot coffee, only not as controversial.

I kind of thought that the 6 entrances were to the ag tunnle but the "collectors" name was throwing me. Speaking of which, I always thought it was cool the way you can go up to the tower and look down between the cracks in the boards and see the familiar stairway in the tunnle. Makes the game all the more realistic.

I think you're right too ZanderArch. I've tried approaching the guy in the swamp at different times in the game, like before talking Serly or Mole, etc., and he still says the same ole things he always says.

I've talked with that Duty fellow before...it seems he should be placed in Cordon below the bridge, not above (where I encountered him). The only thing I landed a date with in the tunnel was Electro. (I doubled back and shot all the guards anyway).

That made me laugh. They may have mis-spawned that duty guy, so he was North of that Bridge instead of South?

That'd make a lot of sense actually, because by the time you speak with bes, the marked one already know of duty, but most players don't, that dialog does show up on some stalkers south of the rails in the cordon though, so I don't know.

ya but the coolest thing is his "watch out for zombies" comment. I was thinking, maybe you werent meant to spawn at Cordon? Mayve somewhere else, and to get to Cordon you would encounter this guy first, before the bridge, which would make sence

Interesting! The game has had a long time to review itself due about 5 years ago). GSC did leave out an area in the final cut, perhaps that was the original beginning area? And it would seem they meant to have more equipment in the game for you to use....dying to get that long-barrel shotgun and minigun. This reminds of me something in TES Oblivion; sometimes when talking to the NPCs in the Imperial City, they will tell you that Amantius Allectus was killed during a burglary; but later, they will say Amantius Allectus is complaining about crime in the city. But the thing I find amusing is how when you are entering the Wild Territory for the first time and have to save Proffessor Kruglov the text and audio don't match at all. It is easy to tell the dialog was translated. TEXT: "You are a clever man professor. Give me the information and you will be free to go." AUDIO: "Professor, you're a smart man. Give us the info, and go where you want."
