Hey everyone, I bought STALKER at launch but didn't really give it much of a chance, it seemed very buggy and didn't run well on my computer. After much urging from a buddy of mine, I've decided to give it another shot, this time with some mods. He suggested ABC Inferno, since it's his favorite, but after playing with it it's not really my cup of tea.
Since I haven't played through the game, I don't really need any flashy new things, I would just like some minimal changes, and was wondering if any mods provided that. Basically I'm looking for:
-Tweaking (of the AI, graphics optimization, etc.) -Bug fixes (like of quests) -Anything else that enhances my experience of the default game, like increased inventory or something.
So in short, I'm looking for a polishing of the original game, not "the modder's vision." Any suggestions on what I'm looking for? Things like ABC, OL and Faiakes all look good, but geared more toward the die-hard fans that have beaten it several times...

I think we have similar tastes. I like mods that enhance the original atmosphere of the game. You might like some of these mods:
1. unmaintained weapons: dirty, rusty weapons 2. Trader mod: allows traders to sell almost every weapon/ armor 3. extended loot: makes npc's occasionally drop valuable goods 4. stash mod: fills all the stashes in the game with some type of loot. 5. Advanced Mapping system: adds landmarks & info to your Map 6. No bar alert: allows you to kill everyone in the bar 7. steady x shot's realistic weapons pack: realistic ballistics for guns.
Get the smart mod manager and install about 20 small mods, then test them to see which ones you like, the stalker weather overhaul mod is a good one for improving the look fo the game.

whats the smart mod manager do?
Boss;4215666whats the smart mod manager do?
It manages your Mods Smartly
Basically it lets you turn on multiple mods without having to combine the code yourself and lets you know about potential conflicts.
If you install ten weapons mods normally, you are overwriting the same files everytime and the last mod will be the only one active....smart mod just adds the text that is different to each .ltx
