just a quick question. when putting mods they say to unzip into stalker directory or to unpack in stalker installer. if i unzip it into my directory wouldn't the file overwrite my gamedata folder? can any1 tell me how to do it. and for the unpack into stalker installer how does that work?

If you are playing an unmodded game, you will not have a Gamedata folder. If you are using mods now, you might have to install manually. Plus, some mods come with gamedata folder inside a folder named after the mod; xyzMod vs1.1/gamedata/yada yada. Best to extract to your desktop and open to see what you have.

I use a download folder and unzip them to that folder and manually copy and paste the mod gamedata folder to my Stalker main folder and that way you can add other mods to it or edit the mod if you like before installing.

listen dude if youre going to post dont post something useless thats what forums are for, so we can help and ask questions. if you have a problem go somewhere else. (talking to the fist guy who posted) Anyway getting back, some mods say to extract to gamedata folder, wouldn't that mean i have to replace my whole gamedata folder or i just have to find the same file and overwright it? and also some of them say (like the transport mod (Transport Mod, Stalker Downloads, Stalker Vehicles) and i quote:"

-Installation-

Unzip the contents into your STALKER installation folder (for me D:\Games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl). so is this some mistranslated thing , does it mean the same as the others or is it something else?

Means the same. Mine would be Program Files/ THQ/ Soc. I use 7Zip, and I tell it where to extract the files too. Then take Gamedata folder and drop it into Soc. You only have a Gamedata folder if you are using mods now. It will merge folders if you do.

Like i said before. Every mod download, i've ever gotten has been unzipped with a gamedata folder already in the mod. Now i move this unzipped gamedata folder to my SOC main folder where ever that is on you computer. This way the game will recognize this folder before the vanilla game files. Ya also must change your "FSGame LTX folder" Which is in main folder of the game.

Here is what ya do first.

Change this line in the folder'; $game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

To this line; $game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata\

Do this before installing any mods or the game will not recognize the mod at all or cause problems. Hope this helps ya.

yeah but if you look at the quote th guy said his directory was "D" instead of "C" so i think he is talking about doing something on the CD of the game. What do you think?

no, it means the same. His game is just installed on D: ; so if the computer get a virus or something and you have to reinstall windows, than the game still works (with all the changes you did) - could be one of my mods....

so if you extract it to your game and you have already a gamedata-folder you will overwrite it. So be sure that the mods are compitable with each other, if you dont know, make a backup of your current gamedata hope I could help

"D" is usually the optical drive, but it does not have to be. He might have one drive for OS and one for storage.
