Yeah, i thought you guys could help me. I have for a long time now, wanted to put two mods into stalker. A 'Repair mod' and a 'Trader mod'... The problem is, i dont know how to put them there. When i started out and just downloaded them and was going to put it in the main/root there were no such thing as a "Gamedata" folder. And i was like, what the hell? I didn't get anything. Theeeeeen i gave it up, left it for some months, and now i wanna do it again. I've tried to find some sort of modding forums, and guides, but none of them have proved to explain to me how to do this right. I've been trying to extract some files, but with no luck.

NOW, lets imagine i have a freshly installed Stalker game. Updated to 1.0006.' I have the extractor program, so whad'do i do?

Next time, don't update to 1.0006. It is buggy. Use 1.0005.

If you have downloaded mods and they contain a gamedata folder, you can copy the folders and put them into your Stalker directory. If they don't contain the gamedata already, you can simply create one inside the Stalker directory and then copy the contents of the mod into it.

Don't mix different mods unless they have been made compatible or you are sure that they don't overwrite each other's files!

Well both mods i downloaded have a folder named Gamedata... ... Does that mean i dont have to activate any thing, edit fsgame or extract the db files?

You don't have to extract the gamedata.dbs (you only need to do that, if you want to modify files that are not yet in your gamedata folder) but you have to edit the fsgame.ltx!

So only copy (one of) the mod's gamedata folders into your Stalker directory and activate mods in fsgame.ltx.

Once you get a mod working, and you still want to try merging the two together, take a quick look around the forums for other threads regarding merging mods. I'm sure it has been asked before.

What's that program you use, Atro? Win Merge?

Yep.

Kany uses "Compare It!". I like "WinMerge" better. I guess it's just a matter of taste.

WinMerge has an >online manual< that explains merging. For Stalker you would additionally need to know a bit about .script and .ltx structures though.

You most likely got lucky and the mod included an edited fsgame.ltx and you got double lucky that you shared the same saved games directory so it didnt crash on you. :)
