This might've already been said, and I know it sounds a bit cheap, but I wanted to modify my starting inventory. I remember seeing a thread on here about it before, but I've looked all over for it. Can someone explain how to do this?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Look for the file "trade_trader.ltx" in "Gamedata\config\misc". Once you find it, open it with notepad. Find the line that says "supplies start". It should look like something this:

[supplies_start] ;Àììóíèöèÿ ammo_5.45x39_fmj = 1, 0.1

;Îðóæèå wpn_groza_m1 = 1, 0.1

;Áðîíèêè killer_outfit = 1, 0.1

;Ìåäèêàìåíòû bandage = 5, 0.6 medkit = 5, 0.3 antirad = 5, 0.3

;Åäà bread = 10, 0.5 kolbasa = 10, 0.5 conserva = 10, 0.5 vodka = 10, 0.3 energy_drink = 10, 0.3

See where it says "wpn_groza_m1 = 1, 0.1"? Now scroll down and find any weapon you like, or all if you want. most of them will say ";no_trade" beside the name of the weapon. Change that to read "= 1, 1". Without the quotes. Then copy the whole line and paste it just below the wpn_groza_m1 = 1, 0.1.

It should look something like this. I've added a fn2000 for an example:

[supplies_start] ;Àììóíèöèÿ ammo_5.45x39_fmj = 1, 0.1

;Îðóæèå wpn_groza_m1 = 1, 0.1 wpn_fn2000 = 1, 1

;Áðîíèêè killer_outfit = 1, 0.1

;Ìåäèêàìåíòû bandage = 5, 0.6 medkit = 5, 0.3 antirad = 5, 0.3

;Åäà bread = 10, 0.5 kolbasa = 10, 0.5 conserva = 10, 0.5 vodka = 10, 0.3 energy_drink = 10, 0.3

That will do it. You can put any weapons there, and you can add whatever ammo you may like just above it under the other ammo. If you want them to show up later in the game you need to go down through the list and add, or change the ";no_trade" to read "= 1, 1" for whatever guns, ammo, etc you want. Just don't change anything above the "supplies start" line unless you want to modify which stuff he buys. Good luck.

Isnt that the start supplies for the trader rather than the start supplies for the actor, which i think he meant? Well anyways if you set the cost of the stuff you want to buy to zero for sometime, it will have that effect

Ooops. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thanks for the heads up TheBestCZE. I searched and tried several different ways to start out with weapons with no success. I'm tired of trying now but I do have an alternative if you want to do it. I have my game set up this way and it works fine. I changed the place where Wolf gives you a knife and a gun so when you except the job to help raid the car park, he gives you whatever you place here.

open: gamedata\scripts\escape_dialog

Look for:

function give_weapon_to_actor (trader, actor) dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_pm", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "ammo_9x18_fmj", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "ammo_9x18_fmj", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_knife", "in") end I've added a fn_2000 and 9x39 ammo for an example. It should look like this:

function give_weapon_to_actor (trader, actor) dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_fn2000", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "ammo_9x39_ap", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_knife", "in") endYou can add anything in here you want. Bandages, medkits, artifacts, etc.using the same code, "dialogs.relocate_item_section (trader, "what you want", "in")". After you accept the mission, you will see it in your inventory.

Not what you wanted I know, but the next best thing.

BTW, if anyone knows how to make the game start you out with guns, ammo, etc. post it will ya? Now I want to know just out of curiosity.

Actually your starting inventory is nothing, you don't get anything until you talk to Wolf. Now if you want Wolf to give something other than the PM and knife you need to edit the "escape_dialog.script" found in gamedata\scripts. Look for this section of text, thats where you can add items that Wolf gives you. function give_weapon_to_actor (trader, actor) dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_pm", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "ammo_9x18_fmj", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "ammo_9x18_fmj", "in") dialogs.relocate_item_section(trader, "wpn_knife", "in") endYou can find the names of the items in the ".LTX" files in the follwing folders. Just add text between the brackets [****]. gamedata\config\weapons - for wepons and ammo (ammo is in weapons.ltx) gamedata\config\misc - outfit.ltx for armors gamedata\config\misc - items.ltx for food, medkits, scopes, launchers gamedata\config\misc - unique_items.ltx for unique items :) (weapons and armor).

If you want Sid to offer ammo or other items for sell then use the method Brusher laid out.

EDIT Beet me to it Brusher :lol:

I was looking at this myself. I believe the game removes anything in your inventory when your character begins, only allowing a flashlight and Binos. I have been using the method Brusher has given for some time now, I added a special sawn-off to start the game with. Having Wolf give you any extra items will bypass the game game setup, so it works best.

Your starting inventory is dictated in all.spawn. So if you want to edit it you have to use a hex editor or the editor that popped up not long ago, unfortunately its in russian

I've been trying to do this. I can't seem to find the escape_dialog file in that directory. I can find a dialog_escape.xml in the gameplay directory, but that definitely is not the right file. What .db# do I extract to get this file?

or an alternative solution if you edit the all.spwn file, and look for the actor there, and you can add anything, decorder, good psy helmet or a lot of stuffs for start...
