Kay, so I'm using a modified AMK1.4 Mod with my STALKER ShOC game.

I wish to install the SRAP (Stalker Re-Animation Project) mod into my game.

This mod has 4 folders:

config ( Trader and modified Default weapon configs) mesh (models and animations) Sounds (sounds for the srep, uses different sounds then my AMK install, as noted from the configs) textures (textures for the models)

I've Tried moving just meshes and textures, then sounds, and then config with no trader overwrite, and then complete config overwrite, and it still crashes when the game loads, even whilst starting anew.

I've also checked the config files, and some of the animations are named differently then the default ones, so i've modified EVERY default weapon's config in the AMK install to have different animation names and it still crashed. The trader configs included just add the HPSA, TOZ34 and some other weapon to their inventories, that's all.

I'm assuming it's a config issue though, and i've tried merging just animation and zoom positions between the configs and no luck.

ANyone able to give me some clues here? I know it's not my rig so I wont bother posting my computer specs, and also fsgame.ltx is modded, so don't bother posting that.

Thanks for reading.

My guess is that both mods have the same files and there is some conflict in registry.

e.g. AMK refers to "line X" in "blah.LTX" but SRAP changed "line X" to "line Y"

your best bet is to take it up with the SRAP developers.

I hope this helps, I mean, who likes giving empty advice.

WinMerge. Don't need to bother the mod's devs, unless you can't figure out how to copy/paste text from 1 text document to another. ;x (WinMerge even gives the option for that.)

From the sounds of it, you haven't fiddled with WinMerge yet. As a modder of any level, it's kind of a required tool. Lets you know everything that's different in a very easy to view format. Very self explanatory...

If you already have been using WinMerge, then it might be a good idea to contact the devs of either mod and have them merge the mods for you. But I have a feeling it's going to boil down to the usual "use WinMerge" suggestion... You compare 2 same-named files, and merge them together so that everything points to whatever correct spots and whatnot. As for any audio and image (.dds) related files... You're gonna have to choose which ones to use. You can't use them all when they're for the same thing. (You'd basically have to make duplicates of the weapons and such to do that, and there's no real point to that. Just pick the visuals and sounds you like best, and use those.)

I recently added some Arsenal Mod weapons to a self modified version of OL2.2. In order to retain the weapon .ltx data that I had modified, I basically had to conduct a bit of trial and error whereby even if I thought I had all the correct mesh, texture references etc. and all the data in the correct folders, I still needed to add a few extra files or data references or change incorrect sound references. The way I was able to get things working was to let the game CTD and then read the error log to see what the game was missing or what required changing.

For eg. I added the RPK-74 which ordinarily is not used with suppressors IRL. So even though I had been careful to have all the correct RPK-74 mesh / hud data and references, when it came to the suppressor data I thought setting ' silencer_status ' to 0 would suffice. However, the reference to the Arsenal Mod specific suppressor was still there and the game required that mesh as well in order to load correctly.

Hehe, I found a post of yours with winmerge in another thread, that's how I found out it uses different aniamtion names and sound names, but it comes with a new sound section anyways.

Also, pretty sure the dev won't merge it for me.

Thanks for the reply, I shoulda added that I used WinMerge to find out the animation things.

Also, it's mostly damage, screen recoil, etc that's different but the positions, animations and sounds are completely different. Also in some cases, the gun installed prior will have a bunch of gl zoom offsets and the SRAP one doesn't, so I don't know what to do there.

Also checked my crash logs as another thread indicated, didn't find any mesh/sound/ltx related lines. I dont think the times it dd crash enerated logs, it was at the synchronizing step of loading, just as the game would load.

EEEDDDIIITTT:

After checking out the mod on FPSbanana, I TOTALLY forgot that this mod adds ClearSky arms, and the other custom weapons are requesting DEFAULT arms. Gonna try non-overwrite with the arm textures and meshes and see if that works? I doubt it highly though.

Thanks for the useful posts.

Edit: also in the weapon files, there are spaces and such that put different data on different lines, i'm assuming this won't cause any issues because most stuff like this is just read for the values inside and doesn't request lines.

I had no idea WinMerge existed lol, thank you Mr.C4.
