Anyone else using this new beta as the base for a mod? I have managed to get most of what I want in, without changing the freeplay or new style of play, but it still has a few quirks that I haven't been able to get rid of. Some of the new quests just show in dialog as bar_trader_freeplay_dialog_2. I think it has to do with the patch being only in Russian and localization changed to english. Even with that, this thing is awwwsome!! Total freeplay and extremely difficult.

Sounds interesting. I would think most people would be waiting for the final official patch to be released before releasing mods based on it. You never know what might be changed in the final release. You mention Freeplay. Since I have not yet beaten the game, I don't know, but is the game worth continuing to play after you officially beat it? Also making it extremely difficult, as in lame difficult where it takes 1,000 bullets to take a guy down, or extremely difficult, but 1 or 2 to the heard are lethal? Emptying a clip into an enemies head, only for him to be running around like nothing happened, is what I would consider extremely lame.

Are you the same Grump thats behind Grumpy's Mod's? If so, your mods are excellent. If not, then nevermind. :)

Yes I am the same. It is total freeplay from the start. No gameline quests just lots of side quests. It may sound boring, but it is not. Hard? Well for starters, your mini-map does not show NPC's or enemys. Your PDA does. They kill you very quickly, but your guns are just as strong. Kind of like my mod only worse. Mutants are stronger and attack in herds or packs. Anomallies can not be seen and are much stronger. It's a lot of fun, but damn it's hard on Master level. I have not played it all the way through, been intergrating some of my stuff and trying to fix some bugs. I added 2 new weapons( Beretta93R-3 rnd burst, and Saiga 12-semi auto shotgun) and a new armour( exo-suit with better specs, added weight carring and you can run with it). This shows the text problem I am having. But it does not hurt the game.

Besides, GSC turned it loose to modders because it will be a long time before they can finish it. What with the SP SDK, Clear Skies, and patches to Clear Skies that will all have priority over this. It is stable, just not finished.

It wasn't "turned loose" it was "leaked" by some of the people testing it. Its only a beta patch and isn't final.

True enough, but as I understand it from GSC site, they are not at all upset about it being "leaked". Maybe because they only have so many people working on a lot of stuff. By the way, any thoughts on my dialogs problem? See above screen shot.

Hmmm i'm wondering how this will conflict with the mods I have installed already? I already have an extra weapons & damage mod.... Also I assume i'd have to start a new game for this to work? My current game is just for fun... but I planned a more realistic play through for the second time.... hopefully this patch won't be such a massive change....

This "Patch" has been changed to mod format by Don Reba. It does require a new game. I already have my weapons, unique items, and some new skins and other stuff added. I would suggest you add manually so you don't conflict with patch. This thing adds total freeplay. No need to finish the game first. In fact, the storyline quests are no longer there. Most everything has changed. I am really enjoying this.

No storyline quests? I do not like the sound of that. Not everyone with this game has beaten it, like me. So if I want to install the 1.1 patch, then I can kiss goodbye the SP game huh?

If it removes the SP aspect of the game, then i'm afraid that i'll have to pass. Thanks for the heads up Grump!
