Hey, there, I still messing with O.L. 2.2 and after editing the items.ltx file, where I added a new food, every time I get one the game CTDs, with this error: FATAL ERROR [error]Expression : item().GetSlot() == NO_ACTIVE_SLOT [error]Function : CHudItem::Load [error]File : E:\stalker\sources\trunk\xr_3da\xrGame\HudItem.cpp [error]Line : 60 [error]Description : active slot is set, but hud for food item is not available

What does it mean? I checked the file I don't know how many times. I just simply copied the energy drink description, and changed the names and values. I left the hud for vodka_hud. Has anyone else come across this?

It sounds like you didn't change enough. "Hud for food item is not available". Could be a typo, or the section is in use by another item and therefore not available. (Note that I don't expect this; I'm just throwing out ideas.) You probably need to copy the HUD stuff from the vodka over to your new food item and change names to suit.

Study the uses and references to the vodka stuff everywhere in the STALKER source files.

You should also look at how others have added food items to their mods. There are some on the FileFront download section, and one I recall having a learning experience was Stalker Rebalanced by [COLOR=Sienna]Shadow_State[/COLOR]. I think a problem similar to yours was solved in that mod.

Actually I tryed different stuffs. First was an extra item from priboi story. Same end. Hud not available. Next was this rebalanced mod. Same there. Last I tryied to copy the whole vodka, also the hud, and changed the values. No luck either. THanks for the tip anyway. Not related much: I saw a couple of mods, including this rebalanced, and I saw working radiation bars on the hud. How they do it? I can't make this work as well. Do you have any ideas, or know someone who has?

when you say "new food" do you mean as in something you made up and added? or something that was there and not used? cause if its not part of the exsiting game then neither will the supplie pic for it to appear much less a location or use assighned to it..

Well, I figured out. The food what You've asked, WARCATT, was the mineral water, and cigarette from Priboy Story. Now, it seem what caused the problem, weren't these items, but the monster items, that I changed to work as artifacts. I don't know why the log said food item, however after I inserted the artifact_hud line into the mutant parts descriptions, it worked fine. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, sometimes the error messages are not merely cryptic but misleading.

A good rule of thumb for me: If it was working and it broke after I changed something, I'd first suspect the change I'd made. If I'd made two changes, I'd suspect both of them.

This is especially true with the strange error messages one gets. A lot of modding with scripts and configuration files is trial-and-error.

It's good you found out what the problem is, especially considering the misleading error. And it sounds like a clever use of mutant parts.

Thanks. I did many changes in OL 2.2, and still want to do a couple more, but I think I'll try to extract the mutant part and upload to filefront, cause I'm sure I'll need more time to release the whole modification. Thanks for the help. :)
