Stingray1399;3625340Why not use laser sight? That would be awesome, and you might only have to edit textures. But I don't have he game yet and haven't started modding it yet.
Great idea! Aswell on the snipers and what not.
Typically a scoped rifle (sniper) doesn't need a laser sight. You really want a laser on your SMG and sidearm, if anything, to help ensure accuracy in CQB with minimal time delay in acquisition and firing ;)
In short.. lasers on snipers are a Hollywood thing. No sniper wants people to know he's there ahead of time ;)
What do you mean by "laser sight"? If you mean a red-dot CQC sight, there's at least one mod that adds that, but it has no/minor zoom, and this guy is asking for a full-up scope on his MP5. It's possible to mdo in an insane amount of zoom and maybe change the iron sight texture (not sure if the MP5 is coded in the same way a scoped rifle is), but currently it's not possible to create a mesh of an MP5 with a scope mounted.*
*: Actually it is, but I'm not sure how you'd go about it, and I hear that currently it's not possible to create brand-spanking-new weapons for the game and implement them without and SDK. Also, none of us here are meshers. I think.
PS. @Niphty: A laser rangefinder would be hella cool, though (albeit unnecessary in STALKER). And implement the binocular's target-finder and variable zoom... you'd have one kickass sniper.
I didn't make it!

i think this would be a great addition to the handguns in the game might use them more if we had both a scope and red dot
LOL, well to be a true sniper you'd need to be a lot further away than what the game lets you shoot at. Then you'd need range, windage, etc in order to dial the scope in right before you could pop a target. You'd also like a ridge to spread out on, so you can get in that classic 'sniper position' which gives you better control on shots and recoil =D But, you can ask for the world and not likely get it. Also, IMO, the crosshairs acts a lot like a laser sight, always giving you general area of where you'll hit. With how lame the barrels are on these guns (given by how randomly the bullets come out at different directions.. I know it's supposed to show character inaccuracy, but it's still a lame way to implement it) It's not likely you'd actually hit the target even WITH a laser sight, because the game would render the laser going straight, and you'd still shoot wildly around that crosshair. Kudos to some team if they make a game which doesn't implement lame accuracy :P
