Hello all. I have a crazy idea for a new item, that will horrify the stalker community. Basically the device in question would be an MP3 player, as a game item that will link the xray engine to a set hard drive location of music files. Any additional controls beyond start and stop would be a.i.c.e. P.S. I know you guys are probably busy as hell trying to get things going without the SDK and stuff but please let me know if this is feasible. P.P.S I also know how much this will spoil the atmosphere and environment of the game. CHEERS DUDES
WELL actually, you can change the music by a certain folder in the gamedata sound directory. im sure its possible to put some songs in but i wouldnt know how.that and they would have to be in .ogg format
I don't know if it's possible, but I'd imagine if a stalker can have a pda he can have an mp3 player :uhm:
I for one get bored sometimes with the ambient music (even if they are awesome) I hang around the dudes playing guitar now and then just so I can hear something a bit more, er, upbeat?
Sometimes I run winamp while I play games (performance is normally still acceptable for me). Media keys on a keyboard are quite useful for when I want to listen to music while playing a game. I use logitech g15 with 'ray's winamp plugin.' Awesome:D Stalker however, seems to hate my keyboard's media keys. It is one of a few games that does that to me.
G15 FTFW. I would completely fail at STALKER if it wasn't for my Macro keys. =D
Anyways, I don't think this would be possible, without an SDK, and even then... I have no idea. As TrainMan said, you can put in your own music in .ogg format, though I have no idea how to get it to play where you want it, and no idea what program would convert it to .ogg.
Cheers for the advice guys, I will have to stick to music on my desktop and get used to the lag in game when tracks change (I run a slow system). I discussed the ogg. thing on OL, it's generally for the harmonica/guitar sounds. and the quality of soundfiles stalker uses is a bit naff for music. (41800 Mono) Thanks anyway. Will wait till the sdk is out. Paitently.................
You can convert mp3's to ogg's or whatever stalker uses by using audacity
