- two distinct, dedicated editions: FULL DYNAMIC LIGHTING and STATIC LIGHTING - new, sun-based lighting system which makes the game look much more like real-life - during the day the sun always gives at least some lighting, but the color, intensity of it and the way it transits form one setting to another is depended on the time, clouds, fog, angle etc. - realistic sunsets and sunrises - new weather settings for all outdoor game levels (clear weather for Pripyat, Yantar, Dark Valley etc) - included StalkerSkies and S.H.A.R.P.E.R.v95 - effective rain periods, thunder-storms

- included thunder sounds by Darius6, also reconfigured thunderbolts to make them more random and effective - completely re-done sun positioning / shadow settings - shadows are realistically long (check out the screens) and point to the proper direction. All this perfectly synchronized with time of day, geographical orientation (sun rises in the east and sets in the west) and visible sun position - sun travel emulated with proper sky texture transition and sky texture color settings - realistically dark, spooky but playable nights - more detailed cycle, number of periods multiplied (there are more than 40 periods of the cycle, instead of vanilla 24) - a lot of 30 minutes and even 15 minutes periods (instead of commonly used 1h ones) to better reflect and control the subtle lighting weather changes - cycle synchronized for Kiev, UK, 01.05.2012 (original idea by MrKlorox Badmagic and their DarkerNights mod, so credits for it go to them - I recalculated the timings and since my sunrises and sunsets are animated, they are perfectly synchronized to the minute)

- two optional versions - darker and brighter nights ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 3RD PARTY ADDITIONS: - integrated StalkerSkies (by Combragol) - SS textures mixed with the vanilla ones to create the best sky transitions and sun travel possible - clear weather in Yantar, dark valley, Pripyat, Stancia etc. - all of those use the same cycle as cordon, garbage etc. (original solution for this taken from Oblivion Lost Project by Kanyhalos)

- thunderbolt sounds (by Darius6)

- s.h.a.r.p.e.r. texture pack (by nocturnal) ------------------------------------------------------------------------

- fixed the issues with near objects in fog being transparent - fixed the issues with a lot of materials (like asphalt on roads) shining in sun - fixed the issue of the cycle being not synchronized with the summer time change in Ukraine (thx to yellow_helicopter)

- some lighting settings tweaked and balanced - some thunderbolt settings tweaked - rain settings tweaked a lot - fog settings completely revamped - I try to use to reproduce the air perspective effect (the objects become a little blue and desaturated in distance)

- added new thunderbolt sounds (by Darius6) - added detail (textures\detail) textures from sharper v95 (by nocturnal)

- added two optional editions - darker and brighter nights

- updated readme

- whole cycle redone from scratch - lighting have been toned, became more realistic - redone the sun-rises and sunsets - they are less dynamic but more realistic - attempt to fix all reported bugs - fog and material mostly

- changed shader support for vanilla (dropped float32 for a while)

- customized some of the sky textures (night one especially) - edited or created of more than 25 light-boxes (#small textures)

- created 3 separate, custom user.ltx presets

- updated readme

GENERAL: - this mod should be compatible with any other mod that does not tweak the weather. - if the mod changes the weather cycle in Stalker, and you would like to use my settings instead, I think it is only a matter of replacing the weather_deafult.ltx and adding textures from my package to textures > sky. There are three exceptions of this that I can think of at the moment: * if you use any version of StalkerSkies - delete your entire texture > sky folder and replace it with the one from this package. My mod contains the StalkerSkies textures but the files are renamed (they have the _ss ending) - this is because in my mod the SS textures work together with vanilla ones instead of replacing them. * if you use a mod that features chaotic weather (like ABC Inferno) - I don't know if it can be made compatible - didn't look in the matter so far * I remember there where some mods which changed the tempo of the game clock - sun-rise and sun-set animation required some neat synchronization to work fine - and I don't know if changing the tempo of game clock will not affect this. - at the moment I don't know if this mod will slow the game down on weaker machines - for me it does not reduce FPS. Please choose the user.ltx preset and SWO edition (FDL or SL) according to your machine specs - also since I changed the visibility and fog distance settings it can have some impact on AI detection behavior - I did not see this mod to cause any problems in this matter in vanilla and in few common mods (Redux, OLP) I tested it with, but - who knows - mod has two distinct editions: FDL and SL - please choose one according to the graphics settings you use in game. - please, ALWAYS use on of the user.ltx presets enclosed with this mod, note that you will have to rebind your keys and re-set other in-game specific settings after replacing your user.ltx with one from the mod's package.

- PRESETS overview:

* low-end - this one is based on medium in-game preset, the resolution is set to 1024, all settings set to give maximum performance * mid - medium setting, based on the in-game high preset, 1024 resolution * hi-end - this one is designed to give the best visual quality, the in-game preset is maximum and the resolution is 1280. I have an average of 50 FPS on 8800GTS 640 with this one

- you can customize the presets from the mod’s package - but avoid using the in-game preset switch (medium, high, maximum etc.).

- if you are experiencing and would like to disable the 'camera lag' please change the following line in user.ltx into (thx to powerslave):

cam_inert 0.25 (or lower)

STATIC LIGHTING:

- the most important difference in this version is that the sun sets in the west and rises... in the west too :). This is because the shadows that outdoor objects drop are NOT DYNAMIC - these are shadow maps 'drawn' in the level. Those shadows always point to the east. Therefore the sun all the time has to shine from the west side of maps (although it changes in height)

- in addition to the above - you mat witness that the starry night sky gets is displayed in 180 degrees rotation after the night-time storm just before the sun-rise. This is because during the storm the I have to rotate the sky textures to get them 'ready' to display sun-rise on the west side (second such rotation takes place during day-time storm).

- although this version is bug-less in most part there are some known issues I would like to mention here. Those include:

* strange overbrightness on characters in various places (especially when you are standing on the edge of lighted up building) * strange, very dark shadowing on characters - for example when you jump on top of the car-wreck in junkyard in Garbage - your character becomes dark

- again you have two nights variants: brighter and darker one. The [#darker nights] optional is more realistic - but CAUSES AN ISSUE with ground texture being invisible when lighted up by flashlight (you can only see a monochromatic surface instead of texture pattern). Use the [#brighter nights] optional to fix this (but at the cost of realism).

- again I have prepared 4 different user.ltx presets - they are constructed in the similar way to their FDL counterparts. I tested them and #low-end version does not really look a lot-worse than #extreme - so don't worry :)

- finally - I wanted both editions of my mod to look similar in their 'style’ and I think that I've reached this goal. But ways to achieve it had to be TOTALLY different for FDL and SL. If you would like to see how much the settings must differ for both versions - try to run the S.W.O.v.2.0_SL in Full Dynamic Lighting

------------------------------------------------------------------------ INSTALATION:

0. DELETE the float32 shaders ([gamedata] > [shaders] folder) prior to use this version of my mod 0.5 delete (move) the [gamedata] > [textures] > [sky folder] if you have it in your Stalker installation dir - do it also if you are updating form 1.1 1. copy the gamedata from the [#1 - S.W.O.v2.0] or [#1 - S.W.O.v2.0_SL] (Static Lighting) > [#base] folder to your main Stalker installation dir (after this you will have the darker nights edition - which is default) - overwrite everything if you are updating from 1.1

1.5 OPTIONAL: copy over the gamedata from the [#1_-_S.W.O.v2.0] or [#1 - S.W.O.v2.0_SL] > [#optionals] > [#brighter_nights] - to make the nights brighter (you can revert to the darker nights by using the gamedata from [#darker_nights] folder) 2. copy the included user.ltx of your choice from the [#2_-_[user.ltx]_presets] folder into [documents and settings] > [all users] > [documents] > [stalker-shoc] (you will have rebind your keys and re-set other in-game settings after this)

3. OPTIONAL (S.W.O.v2.0_FULL only): copy over the gamedata from [#3_-_S.H.A.R.P.E.R-Textures_v.0.95_RECUT] to your main Stalker installation dir

well, this is something to tallk aobut, Some time ago, woth the help from HFX Rebel I managed to upload the v.1.0 of my mod to StalkerFiles (it has a HOT status for some time already). He had to download the file form RapidShare and then he uploaded it to StalkerFiles, It had to be this way cause the file is <20mb.

Now I would really like the new version to be also uploaded to StalkerFiles but - I must say that I did not recevive ANY REPLY FROM ANY OF MY MAILS FROM ANY STAFF MEMBERS. I contacted everybody from the STAFF section abut it (it was about the v1.1 more than two weeks ago). I don' t know why is that - this is a habit of not answering mails at StalkerFiles? Or maybe I did sth wrong?

@S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anyway - if you're the FileFront employee- maybe you can help me out with this upload, or maybe you cam help me contact someone from the crew - at the moment it seems that I did everything to make the new version of my mod to be uploaded...

Hi,

There shouldn't be any significant effect of FPS drop with my mod. It is done using more or less same "resources" as vanilla stalker.

You also have three user.ltx presets availlable in the package, ranging from low-end to hi-end - so there should not be any problem.

I did not send anything to the [EMAIL="files@stalkerfiles.com"]files@stalkerfiles.com[/EMAIL] cause - some time ago HFX Rebel from Filefront informed me that this mail does not support attachements of more than 20mb (my contact with him was because I peviously trried to send you the 1.0 of my mod to [EMAIL="files@stalkerfiles.com"]files@stalkerfiles.com[/EMAIL], and it did not reach you ).

He also informed me that files bigger than 20mb should be at first uploaded to some public server like RapidShare, than I should send him the link to it - he downloaded it and uploaded the 1.0 to your server.

I thought that the same procedure should be proper for any new versions which are also much bigger than 20mb. Therefore i send three mails to: [EMAIL="dot@thegroupofthey.com"]dot@thegroupofthey.com[/EMAIL], [EMAIL="nnoel327@comcast.net"]nnoel327@comcast.net[/EMAIL] and [EMAIL="chiyochan7@gmail.com"]chiyochan7@gmail.com[/EMAIL] which I found in the staf section (of course at first i tried to contact HFX Rebel again but to no avail - no reply). This was when I wanted to upload the 1.1 (more than two weeks ago).

Anyway - you're admin from the Stalker Files crew - the links to files are in this thread, while a lot of screens and proper readme are in the packages. Cannot you just upload both packges to Stalker Files?

I would be really grateful :)

Of course if you find some other way more proper - just tell it and i'll follow it instead.

I see the problem, and its all my fault!!! I'm sorry. Reptile ([EMAIL="dot@thegroupofthey.com"]dot@thegroupofthey.com[/EMAIL]) isn't the admin anymore, the comcast email i no longer have access too and I don't thing gamerush uses that email anymore. Entirely my fault for not updating those and I apologize for that.

I'll get your mod on the site ASAP.

No prob - I'm glad that the matter is sovled, cause I got a little confused for a sec :) Also, I would like to apologize for some harsh words a few posts upwards :)

I am glad that you'll upload my mod - I really like it being available on you site. Also - for future I have two questions:

1. if I would like to update the first post in ths thread with some news, links etc. - how can I do it? Can you unlock the "edit mode" for me? Or should I send you the code for the first post via prv or mail so you update it with it (like it is done on GSC)?

2. for future versions Stalker Files upload - will the links I put in this thread suffice, or should I send them directly to you also?
