Okay I wanna know if anyone knows about weapon editing. I wanna edit the double barrel shot gun to add different firing modes, like Single, or burst fire modes.

Some changes are not suited to certain weapon types.

See Niphty's tutorial and try searching the web for the terms you find in the STALKER weapon config files. Experiment on your own. Then ask specific questions.

This game is three years old, and the body of work out there is extensive. If I don't find the answer to something, I usually have to discover it on my own.

If you haven't already, you first need to extract the .ltx file relevant to the weapon you want to modify, i.e "w_spas12.ltx" (without quotes). You should be able to find a program around called "extractor" which is designed to (you guessed it) open the .db files and extract the relevant data files.

I recommend extracting the files to a pre created directory that closely matches your SHoC directory structure so, that putting the files in the correct place once you've finished editing is easier.

The file needs to be in for example:

*:\Program Files\THQ\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl\gamedata\config\weapons or wherever you installed SHoC, the VERY IMPORTANT part though is the **stalker install directory**\gamedata\config\weapons.

To modify the shot options open the .ltx file in a text editor such as windows notepad, and scroll down to somewhere just under the "ammo_class" heading and add the line: "fire_modes = 2" (without quotes) A description of the numbers is as follows: 1 = 1 shot of the weapon per mouse click. -1 = Fully automatic fire, the weapon will keep firing until the mag is empty and auto reload and keep going until you run out of ammo ... of course the recoil will, by them probably mean that you are shooting birds or clouds. 2 or 3 = 2 or 3 shot 'Burst' mode per mouse click, which is, I believe, what you wanted the shotgun to be able to do.

I'm not sure if it will work on the shotguns as they are not designed for this mode of fire and as a consequence they may not have the right animations, models, or in game physics capabilities, but you can give it a try. (post you're results if it does)

P.S By default the shotguns in Stalker do not have this entry in their respective .ltx files, so you may be required to start a new game, as some modifications to the files can be done with no problems but others will simply crash the game

P.S.S There are MANY other variable you can adjust inside this file, but remember that ANY modification you make to a weapon will ALSO benefit the NPC's and enemies in game.

I think that it will not work. I think it is necessary to change several parameters before. Change this: class = WP_SHOTG in WP_VAL or WP_LR300 or WP_AK74..... Below the parameter "cost = xxx" Add or edit a line: weapon_class = shotgun in weapon_class = assault_rifle
