Does anyone know if it would be possible to merge the weapons upgrade system from CS into SoC? I took a look at it and tried to figure it out but I'm honestly not that experienced at modding and couldn't figure it out. It seems that it would just take some copied and maybe slightly modified files, but I really don't know. I would love for some help on this because I love the upgrading system in CS and would love to be able to use it in SoC.

It may be possible but it wont be the same as CS (no gui or inv screen and no pretty icons) most likely it can be done thru the dialog only similar to the repair mods and OL.

That would be quite an undertaking though, as you'd have to make sure all the scripts work, make all the upgrade items from scratch, add all the dialogs, and possible create new weapon sections for every possible combination of upgrade.

You dont have to add "upgrade items" as there are no such things, every upgrade simply has things like fire_dispersion_base = -0.7 and so on so no actual objects. You can have one mr fixit for the whole zone, stick him either in the bar/AW/or streloks hideout(although that would confuse the plot) or maybe even in WT underground (so many possibilities). So thats only 1 dialog. For weapons sections im sure someone can integrate the ltx files from CS with ease.

Lastly you're all thinking of the CS upgrade system. SoC can have its own. Say you talk to mrFixit and he has 3 options for your current weapon

"What would you like to upgrade?" 1. Accuracy 2. Damage 3. Handling 4. Misc 4.1 Clip capacity 4.2 Weight 4.3 Caliber

And have each one have options that go say up to teir 3, each one 3 times more expensive then the last. I hope the forum saves my indents but i think people get the point. It would be the same as the repair dialog. Just alter the condition or accuracy of a particular weapon. Although im not entierly sure how SoC keeps track of weapons. Once you upgrade yours in CS it has an arrow and is refered to by a different name say w_abakan_a and the game treats it like a unique weapon. If you were to integrate that into SoC, when it upgrades it may change values for ALL weapons of that type. So like you upgrade an AK and suddenly every AK in the zone is just as accurate.

Anyways its something for someone to play around, i have a feeling that modding for SoC will decrease in the following months :p wonder why

That's exactly what I was thinking, unless you can have some way of creating a new section for a unique weapon that would correspond to yours, or change your weapon to point to a unique weapon, which would then have it's stats altered as you upgrade; you'd have to have one section for EVERY POSSIBLE COMBINATION of upgrades for EVERY weapon, then essentially have each upgrade "remove" your current one, and "give" you the appropriate one.

Much work for a talented modder, but then we will face the decision: upgrade current AKM or just pickup SIG55 which is better and free. Because in ShoC assault rifles have all different specifications, 'cause concept is - better weapon = more efficient combat. CSky has all nearly the same specifications, both AR's and pistols, and thus upgrade has sense. Better upgrade = more efficient combat... I mean, different games...
